Life before 1837

Born to a lower-class family in Copenhagen, Giles was the youngest of two children. Not much is known about their parents, but Giles and Leah were both well-loved by their parents. Giles was only 7 years old when their parents died, but Leah took on the role of Giles’s surrogate mother, which is something that Giles never took for granted. As he grew older, he took on whatever jobs he could find; peddler, factory worker, physical day-laborer, so that he could help provide for their family, which now expanded to a brother-in-law and two children. Due to a heart malady, Giles’ brother-in-law died right before little Boris was born. All that mattered to Giles at this point was his sister, niece, and nephew.
Throughout his childhood, Leah often told Giles bedtime stories of magical worlds; places where the extraordinary and unimaginable were as real as the rain on one’s face. Giles was always astounded by these tales that Leah weaved; almost as if she, herself, had seen it. Amazingly, Giles never knew how right he was about that. His faith in Leah’s stories and the worlds and beings that were found in them, was what allowed a very special group of fae to flourish within his very own household. Leah possessed an unearthly ability to see into the magical atmosphere of their own world; beings that lived side-by-side with humans who believed in them. There were times when Giles would go to sleep at night, that he could almost swear he heard whispered giggling; deciding that it was just Rivka having her playtime. It would not come to light until the year 20XX+1 that it was Natasha who giggled while having fun with the father who could not see her; the slvsinoft that she and her two companions all adored.
Tragedy of the Morgensterns

On September 19th, 1837, marauders from beyond this world came and invaded Denmark, specifically for the purposes of finding men of true faith. They were looking for Giles, and they used Leah and the kids as bait, keeping them captive in the attic level of the family’s synagogue near the sea. Giles was in hiding in the underground when the warnings came to Leah’s attention. The levels of Neskomf evil had blanketed the city, and Leah had no way of contacting Veya and the others. They were, however able to speak through the family’s cat, Sukker, telling Giles to stay hidden; anticipating Leah’s will. Giles was not able to comply with this. He raced out of the Cisterns in Søndermarken Park, with Sukker in his arms, only to be caught in a gauntlet of the marauders across the city. That’s when he approached Giles, posing as another with a fake hand.
Using a dark magic spell of translation, Giles was now able to speak fluent English, and he was taken prisoner by the man. As his henchmen were about to capture him, Sukker pounced on the foot soldiers, clawing them and slitting their throats. Speaking in Danish, Giles screamed for Sukker to find Leah and the children. The leader wasn’t angry at the loss of his men, but was annoyed that his time was being wasted, so he knocked Giles out just long enough to take him to the cove. When Giles woke up, he was in a holding cell with a port hole facing the synagogue. Leah was held outside with the children, who were only there to give Giles their last goodbyes. Giles screamed for them to let her go; he would do whatever the pirates asked, but only if they let her go. The pirate’s leader simply snapped his fingers, and the three Sapherseiders vanished from sight as the temple was engulfed in flames. All that he could see now was the shadow of Sukker, keeping a lonely vigil on the hill overlooking the temple.
Journey of a Dead Man walking
It was nearly a month after Giles was kidnapped and Shanghaied by the pirates, but only a few hours had actually gone by in Earth time. Giles was kept in a brig on board the ship, programmed by pirates in an effort to break his will and become their slave. To shame the young Morgenstern, one of the pirates stitched a yellow star onto his tunic, which thankfully did not have the desired effect of others in the dungeon teaming up on him and harming him. Most of the other “inmates” did not speak English, but were still able to understand it. The fact that the Danish-born Giles could now speak this language via the pirates’ spell was a reflection of how high Giles’s faith was; something that made him useful to the pirates.
When the Roger breached the barrier of Neverland Prime and sat at anchor, miles away from the island, the captain had away teams go onto the island and comb through it for any trace of the treasure he sought. Giles was put on one of the teams, but managed to slip away from the crew’s notice, as he jolted as far inland as he could; with nothing on his mind but justifiable murder. Giles had been kept without food and barely any water; able to keep his one treasure safe from the eyes of the pirates: the locket with his, Leah’s, and the children’s thumbprints. The groves of fruit that he passed had just enough to sustain him as he went as deep into the region as he could. There, he scoured the ground for anything that could serve as a tool or weapon, yielding some used and worn arrowheads.
As Giles tried to sharpen the blades with some rocks, he was startled by the instantaneous arrival of three Neverbeings, resulting in Giles being knocked unconscious by the trunk of a nearby tree. One of the beings perceived the interloper as a threat, and was about to slay him with his dagger, but the other two protested on the sleeping visitor’s behalf. The little one, a pixian fae, had talked her father, the one with the dagger, down, and teleported both herself and Giles to the safety of the bluff overlooking the Neverfalls.
Everlasting, Enternal, and Ethereal Love

The first thing that Giles saw when he came to, apart from a blurry field of vision, was the glow of yellow irises amid pitch dark eyes that belonged to the diminutive pixian fae, Solin Fyre. While he was confused about why she was looking at him the way she did, Giles felt this wonderful, euphoric feeling of deliverance and happiness. Every word that Leah had said to him about faeries was proven to be reality, thanks in part to his faith. Solin felt this faith that radiated from the young human, and was absolutely certain that he was the man she had dreamt of in her visions. As a just-in-case measure, she had him speak a phrase out loud, and he spoke it in the exact cadence that she had envisioned; this was the human she was destined to fall in love with; and was only proven all the more correct when Giles fell into that same deep well of love just from first glance. Sensing that Giles was in desperate need of nourishment, she used her telepathy to signal a gateway from the Falls to Castle Faye-Sol, on the other side of the island.
The Queen, Aurora, was gracious and welcoming of Giles into her realm and encouraged him to eat his fill when he got to the palace kitchen. With the help of the Cook, Delania, Giles’s spirit was slowly lifting as reality set in. Despite knowing so little about Solin, he was truly bonded to her soul; and it caused him great guilt when Delania told him of the other that was also in love with Solin; the Lost Boy, Sly Zoiyel. The knowledge of how he was hurting another man, and the loss of his sister, niece, and nephew, were causing terrible strain in him, but Delania had been friends to both Sly and Solin, and each knew that the chance of one of them finding another would be possible; but their friendship and love would never die for the other. This settled Giles’s heart, and he then asked Delania what would be the best way to woo Solin; her favorite flower or gem. Delania’s answer was simple: “Solin is the type of gal who prefers flowers to be alive and healthy in the ground and for stones to remain undisturbed of their natural beauty.” In short, Giles had already won Solin’s heart, and he just needed to love her as much as he could, and that would be enough.
The only one who objected to Giles and Solin being together was her slvsinoft, the fabled Peter himself. Peter had brought news of more invaders heading towards the island, and pinned the blame solely on Giles. Solin ordered her father to back off, and declared that Giles was under her protection as his combinoft. Further, Solin issued Peter an ultimatum that if he so much as said even a word or lifted a finger against Giles, she would never speak to him, or love him, ever again. Giles offered his loyalty and fealty to Peter, the Nevertribe, the Lost Boys, and the Queen, stating that he wanted more than anything to be the one to destroy Huek for what he had done to his family. With Giles’s insight, Peter and the Boys gained an edge; but it was too late. Some of the thicker-headed members of the Boys had decided to be heroes and rout the inbound pirates. Giles and Solin volunteered to help Sly round up the others, before Huek made it to the shore. They got there just in time to get the boys to safety, but Huek had ample opportunity to seize Solin and make her take him to the vast caches of “fairy treasure” that the island was rumored to have.
Solin scoffed at this, saying that Huek had no idea what real fae treasure was, and that what he hoped to use it for — unlimited destructive power — was non-existent. The standoff escalated to Huek trying to eviscerate Giles and Solin. Solin tried to fight him off as Peter made his way from the Palace to the Neverbeach, but not quick enough to save Solin from being impaled by Huek’s fake hook, made of pure iron. When she still would not relent, Huek Neskomfed Solin, slowly poisoning her to death. Peter made it to the beach in time to see Giles slumped over the fallen Solin as she said her final words, her undying love for the three men she loved the most: her father, her best friend, and Giles. Peter’s rage became berserk, and he mindlessly cut off Huek’s left hand, then threw it to the crocodile in the lagoon. Huek, profusely bleeding, fled to his lifeboat and raced back to the Roger; which could never leave Neverland, thanks to Solin’s final curse on the pirates.
Giles collapsed onto the sand, unresponsive to Peter’s voice or shaking him awake. Queen Aurora and Chief Dajanoten brought him back to the NEvertribe’s village, in the hopes that he could be awakened; but nothing worked. Little by little, his spirit temperature had fallen to grave levels, and nothing could be done to reverse it. Without Solin, Giles’s soul became weakened more than ever. It was only a matter of hours until he flatlined, but not before Giles’s spirit inadvertently gave Aurora his final request to keep his locket safe. Giles’s body was buried in the Nevertribe’s memorial grounds in a place of honor near Lordess Lupe Sol, Tiger Lily’s birth mother, in the hopes that her soul would give Giles comfort. It was with a heavy heart that Queen Aurora brought Solin’s crystallized wings and Giles’s special locket, to the Argentum vaults beneath the palace, keeping them close together, as the two souls were meant to be.
