Personality and appearance:

Kindra is a youthful, blonde-haired mermaid princess whose lower body consists of a typical scaly fish body and tail just like other species of mermaid. What sets her apart from earthen species of merpeople is the smoky-black eyes, and her potential for cross-breeding with humans and humanoid fae, which was considered a semi-taboo practice in their society in the past.

Kindra’s pull towards the human Felipe Elechad has been a longtime, one-sided crush from years of observation from secret places. Being an empathic being, Kindra was able to see into his heart, saw that he was a good young man, and even though he was in toxic waters during his tenure as the boson of Mina’s ship, Kindra would jet up to the surface as many times as she could, just to sneak a peek at him when he would walk on the Neverpier.

Her meekness in her non-romantic life prior to Felipe was a result of the loss of her parents at a young age. The heir-apparent to the Mertropolis throne, who is her elder cousin, came to be like a second mother to her little cousin after Nespa’s parents also passed. Kindra is family oriented and looks to her little cousin, Prince Hightide as a brother. A quirk that humans would find odd is that when they are in their homes, female mermaids of this particular Neverzone swim around in the upper-nude, so as to feel equal to the males.

Born into a dark world

After the death of the Petraverse’s Peter Pan and Solin Fyre, the kingdom of Mertropolis severed ties with the surface world, save for the Romani and Nevertribe ambassadors. Kindra was hatched to the little brother of King Daximond and his bride a few Nevercycles after the takeover. When she was a little mertoddler, Prince Tristar would meet the mother of Kindra’s beloved by helping her circumvent the entirety of the island from the Neverpier to the Nevertribe by using special magicks to transform Sonya Elechad into a temporary mermaid, but was convinced to come back to be with Kindra, not knowing that she nearly died when the spell prematurely wore off.

In the years that followed, collateral damage from the war between the Overlord and the resistance took the lives of Kindra’s parents and uncle. Kindra feared that she would have to fend for herself if there was a change in the monarchy; but when Nespa was granted the crown by the royal council, she vowed to Kindra that she would always provide for her like she was her daughter. Kindradell found one less individual to be shy around when Nespa made this promise, which is still in force to this day.

Kindra was always curious about the world above them, the oldest story in the book. Not one to shy away from a challenge, the youngling princess would bypass the royal guards, and take secret coral tunnels to the surface, which she discovered led her into the interior of the Neverpeaks; which would be the place where Kindra would see the human boy of her dreams often sitting alone reading or sculpting. Both of them were the same age, but Kindra was able to forge a mature insight into his soul, the key to his heart was ethereally granted to her.

The Rebellion of Mina Elechad

Not long after their 15th Nevercycle, twins Mina and Felipe (each thinking the other doesn’t know they are related) declared secret war on Huek’s regime through acts of sabotage and raids. The waves caused by the ships along the Forbidden Zone disturbed the tranquility of the environment; leading to the mobilization of Imperial troops to dragnet the borders. Kindra wanted to be of help to her kingdom, but was not permitted to get involved in the physical aspects of the conflict. This led Kindra’s tendency to slink off to become an aid to the war effort by anonymously feeding information to the Underground; partially the reason for this was to check up on her secret love, trying to resist the urge to reveal herself to him.

Whenever she was in her room in the palace, she would fantasize about life on the surface whilst tabulating the traits and aspects of Felipe that she loved in her mind. On occasion, Nespa would make trips to satellite branches of the kingdom along the far corners of the ocean. Kindra had been given opportunities to date noblemen her age; but they each felt that Kindra was an oddity, which suited her just fine.

Present Day

On the night of Halloween, the year prior, Mina Elechad had used her dark magic to bait in Princess Nicole, the Trinidad of Pan who was rumored to have extraordinarily-strong healing magics. None of the mermaids were aware of what was going on, or that they were on the precipice of a new era, but the minute Felipe and Angus made their way onto the edge of the Neverpier to Schmidt’s book repository, Kindra sensed that he was there to search for books for the cure to Sonya Elechad’s condition. The entire night that Sonya was laid up in the Nevertribe’s village, Kindra kept a quiet vigil in the waters below the cliffs of the island, remembering the feeling of losing a mother as well, wishing with all her heart that Sonya awaken.

The Meet-cute with Felipe

After the liberation of the Neverzone and the ascension of Petra Pan (Mina), the pollution of the waters around the island were purified (ravaged with blood and Neskomf poison), relations between the Nevertribe and Mertropolis were restored, and Kindra finally was given the green light to officially go to the surface at her leisure; which Kindra took full advantage of. A few days later, Kindra was on the surface trying to find a way to introduce herself to Felipe without scaring him. But she was caught in a fisherman’s net with other fish. Fate took a hand by sending Felipe in her direction, giving her the opportunity to scream his name and beg his help. Felipe could not detect where exactly the shriek of this mystery woman came from, but believed that it was coming from the net, and threatened old man Ford to open the net. The minute the catch was free, Felipe jumped into the murky water to rescue the girl, but he could not find her, nearly blacking out.

As this was happening, Kindra dove down after Felipe and immediately surfaced both of them to the now-renamed Healing Hand (formerly Skull Island) shore, resuscitating him and awaiting for him to awaken. When he did, an unusual burst of caution, Kindra started their conversation from about 40 feet away in the water, fearing the shattering of the illusion. The knife that fell out of Felipe’s pocket, the one that Angus had given him when they were living with the Romani clan, was the first thing she fished for while he was still passed out, was the conversation starter, leading Felipe to realize that the girl he rescued was actually at home in the water. The entire night was spent with the two star-crossed beings not only breaking the ice, but led to Felipe’s emotional connection being as monumental as hers for him. She felt comfortable enough around her human soulmate to reveal how they are sexually compatible despite being different species: she floated on her back and withdrew her scales along her “crotch” area, revealing human female genitals.

Setting up their new life

The weeks following this grew into months, and little by little, the pieces fell tighter and tighter into place. The revelation of the lost Elechad sister, Siobhan; the discovery of Felipe’s amnesiac slvskorte, Cinna; and the birth of Jones-Elechad child Trinity, all of it steadily led to Kindra’s inclusion to not only the Elechad family, but of Team Panfan. Most of their nights were spent either on the Neverbeach, where they both would sleep next to each other, or Kindra would be a guest of Felipe’s hut in the Nevertribe’s village, in an extra-large bathtub that was big enough to fit them both. The two of them did not try to hide their budding relationship, but they did not go out of their way to make it public either. Kindra grew especially close with Felipe’s elder sister while she was trying to find herself in the aftermath of her liberation from Mordred LaFey. Both of them being a literal and figurative fishes out of water, they shared the mutual love of Felipe, Mina, and their parents, but Kindra was a strong supporter of Siobhan’s new relationship with Princess Liger. Even the teens of Team Panfan and their slvs fell in love with the mermaid princess. For the first time, Kindra, Mina, Siobhan and Felipe had felt a sense of belonging because of this. The closest bond of all was with Felipe’s slvskorte, which made Kindra her mother under fay tradition. Cinna latched onto her new mother as strongly as she did to her slvsinoft.

Cataclysms

When their nemesis, Joso Huek (Mina and Felipe’s half-brother) escaped his earthen prison, with the help of Cinna, it hit both of them hard; but after Felipe had snapped and vocally destroyed Siobhan and Lyra, Kindra’s heart shattered, prompting her to break off their engagement and Felipe himself. Felipe begged Kindra to believe that his outbursts, which he admits were horrible, he attributed them to extremely painful head pains. She did not buy this, even with the sincerity of his words, she left him.

A little while after this, Kindra resurfaced after sensing Team Panfan’s teen members had arrived. Thanks to the slv of Rafe Heyward (who strongly resembled her dear friend Siobhan), it was determined that a struggle had taken place which led to Felipe’s abduction, and that dark magic was used on Felipe by Joso himself. Upon hearing this, Kindra knew that Felipe was telling the truth, and told herself that she was the cause of his kidnapping by leaving him alone. After she returned to her room in the underwater palace, a unique friend of Kindra’s named Callie Jones (a mermaid pixian fae mutant) convinced her that Felipe would never fault her for what happened, that their love is real, and that Team Panfan needed her help. Kindra returned with Callie to the surface, volunteering to join the crusade to rescue Felipe and find Cinna.

Using Pan Magic, Nicole transformed Kindra into a temporary human, clad in Neskomf armor. When the search party infiltrated the ship Felipe was being held captive on, the wobbly-legged Kindra begged Felipe’s forgiveness and pleaded with Cinna (in control of Rafe Heyward’s mother Linda) as to why she would betray her father. Kindra asked the latter question, but she was able to read Cinna’s face — the same tells that she sees in Felipe, she was able to see in Cinna; that she was contrite and was never loyal to Joso. Linda was freed by Cinna for a moment to reveal what they were really planning: Linda was never kidnapped, she was asked for her help by her cousin (Cinna) because Joso was not only a threat to Neverland and Earth, but to Rafe, Mindy, and everyone they love. Linda had volunteered and played along with the bluff that she was indeed a prisoner.

When Joso got the jump on Felipe’s rescue party, Felipe begged Joso — as a last request — to let Kindra go. Joso uncharacteristically agreed and had Nicole Jones reverse her spell, allowing Callie and Kindra to escape and regroup with Callie’s slvsinoft, Serena Jones, after running afoul of her sinister counterpart, a feral, reptilian Kindradell with a mindless bloodlust. After they returned to Petra’s Neverzone, Kindra commissioned the royal jewel smith to forge a special medallion for Felipe, as a way to apologize to Felipe and reaffirm their bond. Cinna had regained her memories that Huek had stolen from her, and also was reunited with her long-lost lover, her pre-combinoft Nufashatel Morgenstern (now the slvskorte of Giles’ descendent/reincarnation, Jesse Schucart.

Revelations

When Sonata-belle Jonescart (the slvskorte of Bree) was taken by a mysterious being, her cousins Sunrise, Jade, and Lunaclipse went on a mission to find her. A dead-end brought them to Petra’s Neverzone, where Lunaclipse had done some recon, and she was shocked to see her mother, Magda, in the water. Fearing that she was drowning, Luna dove in to save her, out of sheer impulse. Oddly enough, the being was not Magda, but she recognized Lunaclipse, surfacing with her so she could breathe. There was more to this can coincidence, as Kindradell not only knew who Luna was, she called her by her birthname, Tabitha Rosa. Sunrise and Jade had found the lead they were looking for and headed back to the Neverscape. There was not a single deviation between Kindra’s soulprint and Magda’s, never mind the fact that they were identical. Until Sonata was rescued, these questions would have to wait.
