The Quilliads

Once, the Quilliads were a proud tribe of hedgehogs, porcupines, echidnas, and other spined land creatures. The collective had no home country for hundreds of Neveryears, until the nobility of a commoner and his family was discovered by the then-Queen of the Neverhive, Queen Elizabeeatrix the First, the great-great grandmother of the current queen of the Neverhive, Queen Beeatrix, was uncovered through their powers of empathy. This leader was Quincy Quillion Sr., the grandfather of Chancellor Quinten. For three generations, the Quilliads, who were friendly with the Neverhive prior to this, became the top ally of the Neverhive, but it was not to last.

Protagonists:

“NO, I AM NOT JOHN DELANCIE” The tradition of the Quilliads was that their first and last names were alliterations. Despite being a hybrid of porcupine and badger, the last names Quillion dated as far back as the collective’s establishment in the Zetascape.

LORD QUINTEN: A father of four, sons Quordero, Quigley; and daughters Questianne and Quava-Sidia. Only a Neverdecade after inheriting the royal title of chancellor from his father Quincy II, a terrorist cell of religious fanatic hornets had joined forces with the Wasps in an attempt to flex their power. Quinten and his best friend Earl Boston Bee planned military strategy and soldier training and drafting. The final battle saw the Quilliads abandoning their allies on the battlefield, against Quinten’s orders. After he retuned to the Quilliad Republic capital city, Quinten was toppled from his throne and attempts on his life were made. Most of the Quilliads became monks of the Order of Neskorse, under the leadership of Lord Quoshent and Elder Enid Echidna, the wife of a prominent member of the Cult of the Fire Serpents. Thanks to Boston and his brother v’combin, Count Burton, Quinten was put in witness protection as an active member of the counterintelligence underground. Relocated to ZSF

WE ARE THE MONKS, SEE. PEOPLE SAY WE’RE MONK’IN AROUND: One of the traditionalists of the Order of Neskorse, Quidd was a high-placed member of Quillio’s government

LORD QUIDD: The eldest son of Quordero Quillion, Lord Quoshent saw the opportunistic and cold nature of this grandson of the former Chancellor. With the family wealth he managed to accumulate after Quinten was toppled, Quidd and his family were granted luxury living in Subter 49, five cities above the Quilliads’ Monastary of Neskorse. A born-politician, Quidd knew how to manipulate the system to his favor, and unknown to the Quilliad Elders, Quidd was the master of living a double-life. After so many years of shame at what their family did to the Neverhive and their former republic, Quidd took great measures with fellow counteragents to ensure Enid and Quoshent’s failures. His final act of heroism was to free his captive brother and his nieces friend from their capture and imprisonment, entrusting the damning evidence against the Quilliads into his brother’s care. LIFE OF LIES: Monk Pellogrin was Pikko’s nom de plume while serving under the Order of Neskorse, trying to provide a better life for his daughter Piik.

PIKKOS: The younger son of Quordaro, and half-brother of Lord Quidd, Pikkos’s mother tried her best to raise her son out of reach of the Quilliads corrupt government and shield him from the burden of their family’s shame. For most of his life, Pikkos was shielded from the darker activities of their government, but without their family’s money and power, Lady Priscilla had to raise Pikkos and his sister Pyra in the podunk upper cities of Subter 4. After their mother died, Pyra and Pikkos were ordered by Quidd to join the monastery. Pikkos helped Pyra find safe haven on Neverland’s main island, and placed in the care of the Marmot family, where she would marry Allen Marmot and give birth to a son named Jason “Stone” Marmot. Pikkos was eventually deemed expendable and was sent on a suicide mission to deliver resources to one of their spy nests on the mainland, only for Piik to drug him and go in his place. Absolved and granted citizenship under the Nevertribe

MOTIVATED BY FRIENDSHIP: Piik was the only Quilliad who possessed Neverbeing powers of empathy, and when her mentor Celia was in the throes of a near-death infection, Piik risked her life to not only save her father, but find her way to Celia.

PIIK THE PORCUPINE: Thanks to her modest upbringing in Subter 4, Piik was a spiritual and quiet girl who believed in peace and respect, and looked up to her great-grandfather, Quinten. When the Nevertribe opened temporary negotiations with Quillios, Piik’s talent for art was recognized by Soprana the Neverspider and sponsored Piik to stay with her niece, Celia, and become her student. For nearly 3 Neveryears, Piik stayed with Celia before the negotiations fizzled, and only the most minor of provisions was granted to the Quilliads for supply runs under heavy supervision. Piik did not want to leave her mentor, but vowed that she would never forget her. Piik’s only other friend was an adventurer named Pasha, a maternal third cousin who also lived on Subter 4. After years of being dragged on scary adventures with Pasha, Piik would turn the tables and leave Quillios Island in her father’s stead when she sensed Celia was near death. Known only to herself, Piik’s distance to Celia for all those years turned into lovelorn romantic feelings for her beloved mentor. Her only other motivation was to avenge Quinten and regain their family’s honor. Naturalized as a resident of Neverland.

Pasha the Porcupine: Sharing a common ancestor with her best friend was the one thing that neither of the girls knew, but Pasha had a strong bond with her best friend, though it often was unappreciated by Piik; though, in her defense, Pasha’s ideas of fun were scary and insane to the more level-headed Piik. Pasha would eventually get a good look at herself from the outside-in when Elder Enid’s shock troops raided Subter 4 after the supply run was scrubbed. Though no official charges were given, Quoshent and Enid imprisoned her with Walter Wasp in the dungeon while Pikkos was interrogated in a torture chamber in one of the castle’s upper levels. Demuria Mousette and Chase Roadrunner would be salvation for Pasha, Pikkos, and Walter’s captured daughter Whitney. Time mapping spells also confirmed a strong familial connection to Della-Kate Mousette, via her mother Victoria’s youngest sister, Millicent, who at the age of 3 was kidnapped by the Order of Neskorse. Millicent was originally meant as a sacrifice to the Entity. Millicent, Pasha’s mother, was rescued by Quordero and placed with a family of sympathizers. Tragically, Pasha was orphaned at age 9, surviving on her own with Pikkos and Piik’s help. Naturalized under the Nevertribe

SPOILER ALERT! Far from being a red-hot blue-collar worker with a family of screaming kids, Walter’s true occupation was one that only two others knew of, and that secret was taken to their graves.

WALTER WASP, Sr.: Not of any constituent species of Quilliads, Walter was a child of members of the underground who sought a restoration to order and peace with the Wasp Hive, Neverhive, Hornets, and the Quilliads. Like Lord Quidd, Walter was the best at what he did, slipping under the radar by fellow sympathizers in the paper factory and clocking in a meager paycheck while he served under Inspector Quintesso and Lord Quidd as one of their most resourceful agents. His marriage to a beloved countess of the Neverhive was not random happenstance, Belinda’s husband Burton was Walter’s mentor and friend who had limited ability to see the future. Out of nowhere one day, Burton met with Walter in Quintesso’s office and gave him two missions: 1) monitor all communications between Slugly’s regime and non-wasp entities, an 2) Find happiness with Belinda after he died. It was not long afterwards that the odd prophecy of his mentor came to pass. Belinda and Walter raised a happy family under the guise of Belinda serving as an envoy to the Neverhive, though it backfired by Slugly’s decree that Belinda could never leave the Wasp Hive or have visitors. Walter knew how much Belinda’s daughters meant to her, and he hated himself for allowing his stepdaughters’ inability to be with their mother or half-siblings. After a life of posing as an aloof and jealous parent, Walter’s final acts were to pose as the agent of Slugly who framed his daughter Winona for poisoning 1,000 jars of honey, Q Wuisling Wasp, a cousin; and to help Demuria and Chase save Whitney and the Quilliad captives. His second wife Wanda was the only member of the family who knew of Walter’s agency to the NSF underground. Harikari

Unwilling accomplices

SEARING SERIOUSNESS: The husband of Festival Ferrette and the maternal half-uncle of Juniper Caribou and Susie “Bluesy” Squirrel, Jason was roped into involvement of Ferrina and Stardancer Ferrette’s falsified deaths before passing them off as a different set of twins.

JASON “STONE” MARMOT: A bodybuilder and former NS Guard Soldier. Jason fell in love with Festival when they were both younger, but their marriage apart from being parents became cold and distant. This would later be explained by the Quilliads mind control device implanted into Festival’s skull drastically altering her personality. She grew colder and more aggressive, treating him like arm candy or a servant. Right before the device was removed, Festival’s love for Jason fought against it, bobbing back to the surface and corrupting its micro components. After Festival was abducted by the Quilliads from her hospital room in the Neverscape palace, Jason joined the rescue mission as the team leader. He sacrificed himself to save Festival, but he was able to reconcile with and swear his eternal love to Festival.

FESTIVAL FLOTILLA FERRETTE-MARMOT: Sought after by the Quilliads as an unwilling asset due to her family’s vast wealth and connection to the Order of Pyre D’Soliel. To lower the morale of Della-Kate and Foster, each a member of the order, Quoshent arranged for the kidnapping and staged deaths of newborn twins Felicia and Fiona after they implanted a mind-control device into her hypothalamus, affecting her emotional stability and her weight in addition to overwriting her personality. Before the device was removed, Festival began to regress to her former self as she fought against the device for control, reawakening to a world where she had no memory of her past actions and betrayals. Knowing full well that most of her bridges were burned by this other Festival, she left the Neverscape, seeking out her niece Demuria with possible evidence of the Quilliads’ plans. It would later come to light that Festival was victimized by the Quilliads in another way: they stole her genetic material and implanted it magically into the body of a woman who was married to a Neskorse Monk, resulting in the birth of Festival’s biological daughter, Piik.

LOW MAN UNDER THE TOTEM POLE: The field leader of sentries assigned to the outer level of the Serpent Canyon underground labyrinth

MONK QUIBBLE: Lured out of the ground level of the labyrinth by the squawking of multiple echoed birds, the other four monks fingered Quibble as the ringleader when asked by Felidiae Falconne and Chase Roadrunner after being trussed and bound. Under the threat of a visit to “quickie” a well-known quicksand pit near Ophidian City, Quibble was brought to Dajanoten’s oubliette and turned on his former masters in exchange for his life. Major Antagonists

QUIPPRO AND QOE ECHIDNA: Twin agents of the Quilliads who were fixers and spies involved with Q. Wuisling Wasp’s sabotage of a Neverhive honey storage facility. Betrayed Lord Quoshent on behalf of their true leader, their mother Enid. KILLED IN SELF-DEFENSE

PANTOMIME QUIZZLING: Quite often there will be families in the Wasp species where there are incidents of doppelgängers. This wasp is one of the most dangerous killers in the Wasp Empire

QUBERT WUISLING WASP: The identical twin distant cousin of Walter Wasp who shifted allegiances after accepting a contract for the Quilliads. Right after the poisoned honey shipment was disbursed throughout Neverland, NSF counterintelligence captured Q and sent their best agent to operate in his place, reporting to Lords Quidd and Quinten themselves. Currently, Q is awaiting sentencing: de-stinging and life in prison or execution. Former abusive boyfriend of Wanda Wasp, Walter’s second wife.

WHEN ONE’S BACK IS TURNED, EVERYTHING GOES: One of Quinten’s sons, the dark hearted Quigley lusted for power and wealth, and toppled his own father.

LORD QUOSHENT: No one is sure about what made Quigley turn against his own kind and family, but his seething years of hatred and scheming brought him to the Order of Neskorse and a toxic partnership with Enid Echidna. As a result of his dedication to the Order, Quigley rose through the ranks and took on the name Quoshent. Quoshent sought the powers of the Entities, the demonic creatures who served as sentries and guardians for their distant dimensions outside of the Great Myriad. One of the Entities they managed to snag was known as ∆4, and was bound to the brick and mortar that would become the palace and monastery on Subter55. A ruthless and bitter man, Quoshent has hidden from his past as a member of Quinten’s own family, something that Enid has never let him forget. The new goal of the Monks of Neskorse was to harness the powers of Pyre D’Soliel, a deified fae who was discovered to be alive in their Neverzone. 34 Neveryears prior to the present day, Quoshent and Enid used mind control to enslave a wealthy woman named Festival Ferrette. In her altered state, in exchange for funding their rogue operations and cooking the books, Festival would get twin daughters that her brother’s wife, Della-Kate gave birth to, by staging the girls’ deaths with doppelclones and overwriting the true Festival’s memories. Eventually, Enid would turn on her hated ally and threatened to take his life. Even after he was finally captured and interrogated under truth serum, his long-lost father still served his defense attorney, bartering for his son’s life and reduced sentence.

WITH APOLOGIES TO CONSTANCE TOWERS: The true source of evil in Petalia’s Neverzone, Enid the Echidna was obsessed with attaining power, no matter who she had to destroy to get it.

ENID HELENA ECHNIDA: No one is sure how old she truly is, but her long life is believed to be from embracing Neskomf poison in exchange for her youth. Her Zetascapian husband was a high-ranked agent of the Cult of the Fire Serpents, a sinister cult who are obsessed with the entity known as Pyre D’Soliel and their powers to see the future. After her husband reached a certain echelon of the Cult, Enid slayed him in cold blood, inheriting his power, wealth, and status. The true brain behind the radicalization of the Hornet religious zealot group, she pitted them against the Wasp Empire whom she also set up a covert alliance with, and manipulated the tensions that led to the war. Seeing the potential of evil in Quinten’s son Quigley, she worked in concert with the young Quilliad to wrest power and influenced the armies to abandon the Neverhivians. The seeds of discourse were planted, and her control over the Monks of Neskorse was established. Two of her own sons, Quippro and Quo, served as her underlings and spies. When they were killed in the underground against Petalia and the other Neverbeings, Enid showed not even a shred of emotion at the sons’ deaths of whom she considered worthless. For many years, not even Quoshent knew how dangerous and unhinged the sinister Enid was.

PROJECT ENDGAME: 15 Neveryears prior to the capture of Queen Beeatrix and Earl Boston Bee, Enid had held the queen prisoner along with the Nevertribe princesses Snow Tiger Sol and her fae combinoft Fyrefox, and Gladdie twins Gibby and Garnish. The prisoners were meant to all be sacrificed to one of the Entities in order to gain its favor. Beeatrix managed to escape, but not before taking a sample of the Bee Queen’s toxins and wing schematics.

Everything that she set in motion from Quinten’s exile to the present, Enid had played the waiting game and took Quoshent’s insults and quips. The ritual chamber in the underground labyrinth beneath Serpent Canyon on the main island was where Queen Beeatrix and Earl Boston were kept in canary cages awaiting the arrival of her true target, the daughter of Solin Fyre, Petalia. With Petalia and the gem of Pyre D’Soliel that she possessed, Enid created a golem body using the essences of her deceased prisoners, Fyrefox, Gibby, Garnish, and a recent addition named Conroy the Vampire Bat. Were it not for the actions of two of Gibby and Garnish’s sisters, Petalia would not have been able to regain her power and take Enid down. After being taken into custody in a homunculus of her old body, Enid’s taunts nearly cost her her own life when she pushed Pan Knight Ariella Jones too far, the latter believing that Enid tried to murder Nillavan. She was not far off, Nillavan knew that Petalia was her sister, and only stepped in for Ariella’s sake, not Enid’s. As of right now, Enid awaits sentencing on capital charges.
