A shrinking violet from a secluded patch of woods and a bubbly young child, who was groomed from birth to be a Magtis; they are an unlikely duo who, in actuality, were meant to find each other. Petalia and Gloria are each from different worlds, but their similarities were just as important to them as the traits that made the other unique. While Petalia was a timid soul who always gave of herself, Gloria was the one who gave Petalia the one thing she needed the most — the one thing that all of her other friends had tried to instill in her, but failed — a sense of self-worth and self-respect. A living testiment to love conquering hate, this sister-team has made everyone around them swoon with overwhelming affection, but how did they find each other? The story begins with the elder of the two: Petalia.

Petalia’s Personality and Appearance:

Like most Neverscapian life forms, Petalia is an anthropomorphic version of a type of flora or fauna that can be found on Earth. Possessing physical plant traits, she is also able to understand and convey emotions. Her stamen is bright yellow and adorned with the same tic marks as other magical beings. Her eyes are a deep blue and her eyelids are naturally pink in color. Like a princess’s flowing hair, her orange-red petals luxuriously fall down from her head, clear down to her roots. Curiously, another trait she shares with Solin Fyre and Ariella Jones, apart from the tic marks, is her black choker-like neck coloring. Prior to the present day, her wildflower traits that she most despised about herself were her peach fuzz and unsightly ankle leaves, both of which are now gone.
If one were to study Petalia, she would be more human than flower, in many ways. Despite being born with nothing and raised in a squalled environment on the island, she managed to not dwell on what she did not have, and made the best out of the things that she did have; an endless stream of friends and loved ones, and the best view of the ocean and Ritual Rock, where combinoft ceremonies took place. The bonds of friendship that she has in her life are more than well-earned. Petalia’s shy and humble demeanor was countered by her altruistic yearning to help those who needed her, and not wanting anything in return. Whether she wanted it or not, those that she came in contact to (animalistic Neverbeings, mostly) were forever smitten with Petalia, and were never too busy, or had too little, to give to her.
One of her strongest traits that has been a constant since her bulbhood, was that she was a hopeless romantic — not for herself, but for those who came to the island to become combinofts. Long before she could even remember, she was a witness to all the couples that had taken the vow of Combination on Ritual Rock, and the role that magti flowers played in their happiness. This was the only true thing she ever wanted for herself, to be a part of a couple’s happy life. Her faith in love and the possibility that she could someday contribute to it was what drove her to stay chipper in spite of the hand she had been dealt.
Prior to her birth:
After the Prismatic Divide created countless alternative Neverland along the Great Myriad, Solin Fyre had found herself being split apart, paradoxically complete and incomplete at the same time. One of the counterparts of Solin, far along the Myriad, had been weakened and sealed into a giant stone that was comprised of pixie dust, called Amberized Stardust. The Tiger Lily from a Neverzone that specialized in Combinoft Rituals (the first counterpart of Neverland Prime to be created), stumbled upon this other zone and the gem that glowed. Instinctively, Tiger brought this stone and a rare flower, which grew in abundance in this zone, back to her world. The stone had called out to Tiger Lily, and with her uncle’s magic, the being once known as Solin Fyre, became a sentient flower via spiritual transplant. Tiger Lily gave this new being the name Fyrefox, and became best friends like they were in Neverland Prime.
Fyrefox’s greatest desire, apart from Tiger Lily’s friendship, was to have a child of her own; something that a slvskorte fae could not create. After years of trying to generate a seedling for germination, she finally succeeded. During this time, while the seed was growing inside of her, Fyrefox and Tiger Lily found a lost baby owl, named her Magolia, and adopted her as their own. Fyrefox eventually gave birth to the seed, naming her Petalia. Not long after this, a tragedy struck, and Fyrefox and Tiger Lily died in a mysterious incident. Magnolia was found by Tiger Lily’s aunt, Lady Sal Sol, but the seed was missing; feared to have been gone forever.
One fateful storm

Not long after this, Cello Hopper, one of Fyrefox’s protégés, was caught in a rare blizzard that made landfall on the mostly-tropical island, stranding her on a hill outside of the Neverwoods. Were it not for what happened next, Cello wouldn’t have cared if she had frozen to death after losing her mentors; but fate had other plans. Petalia the seed had literally dropped from the heavens; a flower seed with Fyrefox’s tic marks (/// ///) and pink eyelids. Cello’s focus had turned a big 180, and was determined to keep this precious seed alive. The weather was getting colder, and the winds were picking up, but Cello dug in her claws and held Petalia to her body, fighting off the cold. A few hours passed, and the flares that Cello had kept in her winter bag were the only things staving off the chill. She chirped some tender melodies to the little seedling, assuring her that the world was not going to lose another piece of their beloved Fyrefox. It was then that Cello heard the sound of her brother’s best friend’s voice, Laddiebug DeScorch, who had sent search parties to find her. Cello refused to budge, and Laddie was apt to see why.
Thanks to Laddie’s help, Cello was able to plead with the Ant Brigade to help them dig and insulate a hole for Petalia, as the soil was her only hope. This fact alone was enough to sway them away from their long-standing blood feud with grasshoppers, and the ants used a special compound to seal in the heat around the hole, and Laddie helped Cello plant Petalia in the ground. Once she was secured, Petalia was wrapped in some scarves and Cello’s pink wig. Even though Petalia was securely planted, Cello’s motherly instincts were far too strong to even think about leaving. She refused to budge, and Laddie laid her down on his legs, wrapping her in blankets, and swearing to stay with them. In one night, Petalia had helped create two miracles: the blood-feud between the Ants and Hoppers was forever negated, and Cello and Laddie fell in love.
Full-grown Petalia:

Cello and Laddie were always the most constant supporters that Petalia had, but they kept who they truly were to her a secret. Cello was worried that having a title that belonged to Fyrefox was something that would be disrespectful to her memory; perhaps because she, herself, had never gotten over her own loss of Fyrefox and Tiger Lily. Despite this, Cello was Petalia’s staunchest advocate, and was always anxious to shower her with her love. Laddie was able to visit her every day because he had the ability to fly all the way from Hopper Hills in the far northern part of the island. The two combinofts helped Petalia flourish, but they weren’t the only ones.
With the help of the other animals of the island, Petalia was able to thrive in the arid environment she was planted in; whenever she needed water, creatures would bring it; if she was running low on nutrients, creatures would bring her supplements; when she needed a friendly ear or a hug, they also never hesitated. All of this was done without Petalia ever having to ask for it; not that she would have felt like she could have. Whenever one of her animal friends did a favor for her, Petalia did what she could to return the favor in kind; which often was just a hug or time to talk. For the past four Nevercycles, the Bee Kingdom found that Petalia generated the most concentrated nectar in all the island’s history; and Petalia was always eager to contribute her nectar and pollin to the bees and other insectoids who needed it.

Forming ToxAnon
Petalia was chosen by mutual friends to counsel Ross the Rattler, a dear friend of hers who wanted to be de-venomed; to not be a danger to anyone, especially after nearly poisoning his girlfriend Felidia the Falcon, by accident. Petalia gave Ross the courage to go through with it, and the promise that her shoulder was his whenever he faced backlash from others; which happened quite frequently. It took quite a bit of time, but Ross’s struggles gave other, more younger, poisonous creatures on the island the courage to speak out about their own struggles with their own toxins. Petalia and Ross began counseling the other creatures, until it was decided that they could do more good as a group, leading to the foundation of Toxins Anonymous. Every week or so, meetings would be held by Petalia and Ross so that kids like Samantha Scorpion, Acidney the Banana Frog, and others could have a safe place and come up with ways to cope with their toxic nature that clashed with their benevolent and caring personalities.
Petalia was a natural at counseling her youngling friends and coordinating with Ross and other cofounders. One of the reasons Petalia wanted to be involved was because of Celia the Neverspider, Cello’s elder cousin. Like Petalia, Celia was very meek, but she suffered from her own physical ailments (congenital heart defect). Despite not being the type of spider who would ever hurt a fly (literally), she faced terrible stigma as a black-widow species of spider (in spite of her being only half-spider and half grasshopper). Any family of Cello’s, in Petalia’s view, was family of hers, and wanted more than anything to help Celia, making her a charter-member and co-founder. Because Cello was his big sister, the young Arthur-Peggio Hopper, his girlfriend Tina Tortoise, and their BFF Charlotte Chameleon, each volunteered in whatever way they could; in small ways at first. Eventually, their involvement became so frequent that they were made full members, dubbing themselves the Big 3. Like Petalia, they were non-poisonous beings who wanted to help, so Petalia elected them as the welcoming committee for new initiates.
Eventually, Petalia’s dear friend, Queen Beeatrix, reached out to Petalia when her niece Winona Wasp was framed for poisoning a supply of honey that she helped her cousins to craft. Winona had been exiled from the Wasp Empire and was given a loving home with the Queen and her two daughters; each were Petalia’s special friends. Beeatrix beseeched Petalia to help Winona; to boost her spirits, and show her that she is indeed a worthwhile and beautiful creature. Petalia gave her sovereign her most solemn oath that she, Ross, and the other group members would help Winona. But this could only happen if Winona was up for meeting new people; which, for weeks, she wasn’t. With the Big 3’s help, Winona was finally able to find her true inner strength, and became a part of ToxAnon.
Combination of Spencer and Mina
Petalia had awoke one morning to find Laddie coming to see her extra-early, bearing a gift. Celia had made Petalia a special blanket that came from her magical Blue Moon Silk, a byproduct her body created every 7 months. Petalia reveled in the warmth and comfort of Celia’s blanket, like a cocoon and hug all at once. Unfortunately, the coincidental instance of Celia becoming seriously ill and bedridden was linked to an over expenditure of her special silk, lowering enzymes in her blood that kept away bacteria and viruses. Cello and Laddie came back later that day to see if Petalia had shedded any petals in the last day or two, hoping to make a healing tea from it, like with their friend Sylvia the Silkworm. Petalia’s love of her new blankie had turned into terrible guilt. Out of severely misplaced shame and self-loathing, Petalia yanked out her biggest petal (through severe pain) and gave it to Cello.
The Faith of a Child
Around this time, Petalia had noticed two humans flying in the sky; something she had never seen before. She was so entranced by this, and she knew that it was a couple that had come to this Neverzone to undergo the Ritual of Combination. Even knowing that she was not going to be picked as a Magtis, she still held out hope, and it was about to manifest. In the garden down the hill, a young gladiola named Gloria had witnessed many of Petalia’s good deeds over the years, and especially today. To prove that Petalia was worthy of the Combinoft couple, she was going to get their attention by plucking herself out of the ground and running up the hill after using a hypersonic signal called the “Flute-slice”. When Cello and Laddie told Petalia what was happening, they three were scared to death for the young Gladdie.
As Cello and Laddie fought off a deranged Bramber, Petalia grabbed for Gloria and used her body to keep the tween bloom warm until Cello could dig into the hard ground. By the time everything was over, there was no sign of the airborne princess, but what really mattered to Petalia was the leaf burn that Gloria had given herself from the Flute Slice. In typical Petalia fashion, she cracked open her own leaf, releasing a glowing goo that was derived from her nectar, and used it to salve and heal Gloria’s wound. Calling her by the endearment “Tal”, Gloria expressed that she saw a nobility and beauty in Petalia that her aunts could not. Thus, Gloria refused to go back to the garden, as the only Gladdies with a heart were only her mother and twin bulbie sisters. It was then that Gardenia, Gloria’s aforementioned mother, realized that Petalia was indeed the seed of a long-gone friend, Fyrefox. She begged Petalia to love Gloria as if she was her own; seeing that theirs was a bond that Gardenia did not want to break. By night’s end, Petalia and Gloria were now honest-to-goodness sisters. To seal this, Petalia begged Laddie to have Celia rehem her blanket, replacing the “P” with a “G”. Laddie knew this would happen, and Celia had made a new blanket for Gloria. After the tea Celia had drank cured her of her afflictions, and also her heart defect, she began to have boundless energy for a time and was able to generate Blue Moon Silk faster than it could be woven. As the sun went down, the two sister flowers fell into a deep, restful sleep; unable to hear the sounds of footsteps and garden shovels around them.
From Dreaming to Living
The following morning, Petalia awoke in an unfamiliar place, and Gloria was gone. Terrified beyond measure, Petalia frantically called out for Gloria, begging for someone to help. A voice from the other side of the room assured Petalia that Gloria was safe and sound. The entity came into the light, revealing herself to be a pixian fae named Echochime Jones, the Slvskorte of Prince Spencer, and shared with Petalia some of her memories via Psicon, as a way to calm her down with the help of her actual calming spell. One of the hooded figures who had dug up Petalia and Gloria the night before was revealed by Echochime to be Princess Mina, the girl Petalia saw flying in the sky. She revealed that Gloria’s gambit had gotten her attention, but it was more than that that brought Petalia to Mina’s desires. It turned out that Petalia was a Neverscapian version of her favorite flower: the tiger lily; and that she had traveled to many worlds in the hopes of finding a sentient tiger lily has her Magtis. Petalia was at a loss for words, but Mina expressed that Petalia’s fondest desire was, in fact, her fondest desire as well. She also revealed that Petalia had a mother all along; and projected a picture of her from her lazuli necklace: Cello.
Cello’s revelation
In the weeklong preparation that it took for Mina and Spencer’s ritual, Petalia began to have conflicting thoughts. She had asked Lady Sal, the Nevertribian gardener if she knew Fyrefox, feeling that she was incomplete without knowing where she came from. Sal told her everything she knew about Fyrefox and her departed niece Tiger Lily, and after hearing Petalia wish she could tell “her” that she loved her, Sal brought Petalia to a special place; the brook in her biodome. On cue, Cello hopped over to Petalia, who was temporarily planted in the biodome’s soil. Petalia revealed to her that she knew what Cello really was to her, and for the first time, called her “mommy”. Cello saw that Petalia had carried a pouch that contained a piece of Cello’s exoskeleton from years ago; a clue to someone important to her. Cello told Petalia everything and spoke of how proud of Petalia she truly was.
Petalia revealed to Cello that she was having conflicting thoughts about fulfilling her lifelong dream to be a magtis; having just found out who Laddie and Cello, and by extension Celia, Strat, Zimri, and Arthur, were to her. All her life she had wanted a family; and she was unable to put the pieces together about how deep Cello’s devotion and love to a random wildflower would go, and now a new family lay upon the horizon for her and Gloria both. Cello misconstrued this at first as Petalia worrying that she and Laddie would miss her, but Petalia’s tears of love told a different tale — she did not want to leave her foster parents. With the loving ears of Cello, Laddie, Arthur, Ross, and the others, Petalia made her decision.
Forging the hearts’ link
The week had passed, and Mina and Spencer were anxiously awaiting the sun to rise on the big day. Mina, accompanied by her adoptive Nevertribian cousins and aunt began their ascent to Ritual Rock, and she proudly looked down at her Combinoft bouquet; with a nervous little Gladdie protruding out of the tip top of the floral arrangement. The Magtis veil was worn by Gloria, and Petalia served as Gloria’s guardian angel at the bottom of the bouquet, wrapping her long petals around Gloria so she could rise up. Following Cello’s advice, Petalia listened to her heart; and it was telling her that it took real guts and heart for a little sprout like Gloria to roll for broke, risking her life just to make a stranger from another part of the glade feel important. Petalia had made the request of having two magti represent Mina’s and Spencer’s bonds to the other, but with Gloria as the special flower of the hour.
