The only son of Prince Randy Jones and socialite-businesswoman Lindsey Barnes, Spencer was a calm and shy kid born with an odd cowlick that has never been tamed. Only a month older than his cousin Ariella, and two months younger than African-American cousin Harold; the three Jones-kids were thicker than thieves, they were each other’s extra limbs. When Spencer was three, the Jones family recieved a visit from a cousin whom their grandfather wanted nothing to do with: the daughter of Sam’s brother Floyd, Angeltop Jones. It just so happened that Randy and Rebecca had brought their spouses and children over for dinner, and Susan had come to be her support. Spencer looked on while in Bella’s lap as Ariella embraced their new aunt without any hesitation, purring like a kitten.

It was because of the kids that Angelica wanted to search for her abandoned son, Harold. So it wasn’t long afterwards that Hi-Top was brought into the family with Rick adopting him. Spencer was confused as to how this African American kid could be related to them, but he didn’t give it much thought. Since Angelica was about to have a child around the same time that both Ariella and Spencer’s mothers were pregnant as well, the three cousins formed a big-sibling pact the next day at pre-school.

Spencer found that he was feeling attached to the newborn Serena, but tried his hardest to hide it. This caused Lindsey concern, but having magical blood, Randy was able to see through the facade; the same that he tried when his own sister, Esther, was born. As a result, Randy was always able to second-guess all of Spencer’s evasions and tricks. It proved of little importance as he eventually saw Spencer ditch the act because of how taxing it proved.

Spencer had grown up with a fondness for music like AJ had for books. He became adept at trying new instruments and quickly memorizing their note progressions. This did not detract in the slightest of his family-based obsession for Peter Pan. AJ and Spencer always would do their Pan binges together, and always tried to get Hi-Top involved. It didn’t resonate with him as much as his cousins; but Hi-Top enjoyed it. When they were in first grade, Spencer had made friends with a kid named Jesse Schucart, and they would hang out and do stuff together every so often, but it was the following year that Jesse became a full-fledged part of the group for a time. Ariella and Jesse were smitten with each other in Connie Mayhall’s speech class at Serene Plains; which would prove far too intense.

Spencer and Hi-Top noticed an immediate change in their friends. AJ and Jess were always looking at each other and holding hands like statues. Every recess, every lunch hour, every after-school gathering; the two cousins were worried. Spencer suggested that they tell someone what was happening, thinking they were pod people. Harold was the one who told Randy about their concerns, who then in turn would bring it up with Shari Schucart and his sister Rebecca, AJ’s mother, which led to the two children being homeschooled and their memories of the other dulled by order of Queen Aurora. To save the kids from guilt, Angeltop and Randy asked that their sons would be stripped of their memories of what they did. Aurora and Maddie complied.

A few years later, Lindsey was diagnosed with and died by lupus, but not without leaving a video message to her children about how much she loved them, which was kept in the Neverscape vaults since then. Not long after Lindsey died, Rebecca and Bella were in a car explosion that claimed Rebecca’s life and left Bella comatose. Ariella sank into a deep comatose shock from losing her mother and sister, leaving Nicole in a horrible position at the tender age of 8. Angeltop and Randy gave Nicole alternating homes every week for a sense of stability and the love she needed. This would further build up the protective side of Spencer that began to grow after their mother passed. He would miss Nicole badly when she was at the DuBrau’s to the point where he tended to Serena whenever he wasn’t doing his homework. He never left Serena’s side, still trying to hide the magnitude; but Serena’s own magical sense could see past it, which gave her a great comfort.

After Ariella and Bella awoke from their comas and were brought back to Remington the following year, things changed dramatically. Lady Aurora’s embargo was revised so that AJ and Jess could attend public school again; which unlocked the memories of what led to the embargo in the first place. Spencer was sorry for what he did, but AJ showed her cousin her support and love; saying that it was the right call.

Randy would die during that same year of cancer; leaving Esther and her wife Jillian as their sole guardians, tragically having to move them to Jefferson City, Missouri. It was during this time that Spencer had become withdrawn and shy, changing his attitude toward his sister to lax and sarcastic as a coping mechanism; still, Serena saw past it all and gave her brother his space.

Flash forward to one year prior to “Darkfire Souls”, Nicole had discovered her true parentage, which led her to believe that she was a bastard child from a surreptitious affair between her father and aunt, Esther (not knowing her sexual orientation made this impossible) and a dark side that had festered within herself wrested for control of her body. This alternate personality, a shadow-being named Elocin, provoked AJ into attacking her (Elocin) only to relinquish control back to Nicole, seeing this as the ultimate rejection, forcing her to attempt suicide by sleeping pills.

Esther drafted Serena and Spencer into joining the search, Pansporting them to Remington while Ariella searched from the skies. Believing the best place to search for her was at RHS, Rini and Spencer ran into Rafe Heyward, a mutual friend of Rini, Magda, and Nicole, who joined them. It was at this point that Ariella found Nicole at Welkerblanc Cemetary about to take the pills. The second she swallowed was when Ariella’s Pan Magics put her body in stasis so she could link up with Nicole’s mind from within and dispel the poison.

Thankfully, the plan worked by the time the trio got to Welkerblanc. Spencer and the others went to AbGen Hospital to stand vigil. Once Nicole was awake, Spencer and Rini had already left AbGen, having sat with her while she was asleep. Esther relayed the news that the time had come to move back to Remington and they had closed on an apartment on RobStack Court Road, prompting Rini and Spencer to get a head start on packing.

Not long after coming back, Spencer and Serena had witnessed a love triangle between Nicole and two twins, one of whom Rini had been in love with since third grade. When the boy twin, James Marsden bowed out of the race for Nicole’s affection so that his sister Twi could finally be happy, Spencer encouraged his sister to make her move. Jim’s memories of Serena’s crush, and the kiss she gave him before they moved away, came flooding back and the two started anew. Jim had grappled with a fear that Serena saw herself as a consolation prize; which made him feel terrible. Spencer took Jim under his wing and said that Rini was the happiest she had been in a long time. Jim had feared Spencer’s disapproval, but it melted just as fast.

A month after this, Spencer and Rini met a new girl who claimed to be AJ and Jesse’s daughter from 400 years in the future — their cousin, in essence. Spencer found this hard to beleive, but Serena’s faith and trust convinced him. Halloween would find Spencer keeping Serena vigil at AbGen after she was magically transported into the underground tunnels and used as bait to capture Nicole. Serena had hypothermia, bruises, and severe exhaustion; but was able to be released by dusk.

In the short time that followed, a family function on the star, Polaris, in honor of Nicole’s adoptslv, Becky, Spencer had a run-in with a girl in Pangarb and Irish-Scottish brogue named Mina, now the Petra Pan of her Neverzone. The two smitten attendees danced with each other, becoming the hit of the party, but when Petra realized Rini was his sister after he shyly retreated to the roof, Serena was put in an awkward position where Mina handed Rini a whip and exact her vengence on her for trapping her in the catacombs. Due to the nature of the karmic realignment spell, the whip was stuck fast to Serena’s hands until Mina’s karma was restored. Thanks to Spencer coming back with some fruit punch and talking Mina down, the whip finally was released from Serena’s grip and the two finished their dance on the tower roof.

The week after Mina returned to her Neverzone, Spencer was unable to move on; he had fallen in love with this girl and honestly beleived that she loved him as well. Soliciting Echochime’s help, Spencer was able to make an artifical Panflute from his beloved electric guitar so that he could Pansport to her Neverzone. Serena had witnessed this, under cover of darkness, and wished her brother luck, quietly, When Spencer arrived in Mina’s Neverzone, it was met with mixed results. First, he was captured by the Nevertribe, in a net trap; next, he realized he was still in his boxers, pleading with Echochime to Fayport some street clothes on him, and then was welcomed by Mina after she slapped him on the shoulder for willingly putting himself in the middle of a warzone — the pirate uprising was reignited in the time that had passed, with Mina’s half-brother Joso leading the charge with his minions the Pie-Rats and the Bloodcanneers. After Spencer was captured by Joso, Mina pleaded with the latter to not harm him; Joso agreed, in exchange for Mina doing him a favor of his own: using her golden compass to track down a cache of treasure that was supposedly hidden underground by their father, Huek. Joso was not to be trusted, so Ariella, Bella, Nicole, and Esther, after they were brought to this Neverzone by Serena’s intel, banded together with the Nevertribe and arranged a counterstrike.

Following Joso’s attempt at wielding the fatal Neskomf bomb, Spencer had ascended as a Knight of Pan, in defense of Mina. After a bloody swordfight between brothers Joso and Felipe; Joso lost his arm and was brought to justice on Earth (specifically, Jupiter Florida). With Esther’s blessing, Spencer was granted his secret wish of staying in the Petraverse with Mina. With Mina’s powers, Serena and Spencer were each given a talisman bracelet that would allow them to Pansport to each other during the full moon. Mina and her new love moved in together in the Lost Boys’ former hideout, Hangman’s Tree, remaining celebit with each other until the time was right. This, however, proved to be difficult until the night of Spencer’s final test.
