Background on the Bee Kingdom

Existing in a micro-dimension of its own, the entire kingdom is an eco-friendly manufacturing co-op, brought into the 21st Century by the efforts of the last two generations of monarchs. The main facility is structured like a hydro dam, with the honey flowing from the 6 sides of the hexagon structure, settling into a magical river of honey that feeds into the bottling and jarring warehouse in the subterranian caverns. There is no caste system in their society; each bee has something to offer, and the crafting staff rotates departments every 6 months. In the new kingdom that Beeatrix governs over, honey crafting is not the only focus of their people. New institutions that revolve around the arts, learning, and medicine were created with help from the Nevertribe and Fae of the Neverscape. Pictured above is the western side of the Palace, connected to the boardwalk.

The most recent in line for the throne of the Bee Kingdom, Queen Beeatrix is one of the few monarchs of this race that chooses to take a more active role in her hive; not wanting to sit around and boss around her subjects like a typical bee queen. Her Combinoft was a war hero who possessed great heart and courage, both he and his brother were dear friends of her brother, whom they both served with, and were the ones who found him wounded on the battlefield. While Boston never held these injuries against the Quilliads’ leader, Bellmyke was not as generous, vowing revenge if the spiked monsters dared to set foot in the Petaliaverse Neverzone. While he and Beeatrix were in contention about this one issue, both combinofts ruled the kingdom as equals to their people, not above, a belief that Myke had taken with his whole heart when they combined. This stance has made her seem soft by her fellow leaders abroad, but it is because of her that the Hive kingdom has seen a tremendous growth in prosperity and spirit. Her benevolence came from her parents, the previous rulers of the hive, who sought to forge a better way of life and not make the citizens feel like drones fettered to the whims of the elite.

A proud mother of two, with the adoption of Winona making it three; Beeatrix’s daughters are her pride and joy, every bit as kind and caring as she has strived to be. Berna, the eldest, is heavyset due to her role of nectar collector, while Bailey carries pollen and delivers special orders of honey to the other Neverbeings on the island. Berna and Bailey are very cultured and have raised honey production to an art form, choosing to work out of a kitchen couldron more often than in the honeycomb chambers.

Relationship with the Flowers
As the plants of this particular neverzone are sentient, Beeatrix has made it a point to never compel the flowers to surrender their nectar and pollin by force. This is not as necessary as one would think, since the flowers have an instinct about the need for their resources, but it is still considered a matronly and loving gesture. The Gladdies do their part, but the way they are brought up physically limits how much nectar they can produce.
- Elder Gertrude Gladdie: The relationship between these two is one of great mutual respect. Gertrude was a dear friend of the former Bee Queen, and always remembers Beeatrix as the same child she used to mentor. Prior to the deaths of her firstborn twins, Beeatrix knew Gertrude as a loving and effervescent flower, which tempered down as the shattered Gertrude became more aloof and disciplined.
- Gibby and Garnish Gladdie: Gertrude’s aforementioned eldest twins were extremely close with Beeatrix; inarguably were her best friends when she was a larvae. Not a day has gone by that the Queen has not reflected on the wonderful souls the two flowers were; despite Gibby’s flair for the dramatic and gothic.
- Gardenia Gladdie: As a fellow mother, Gardenia greatly admires the queen as if she were her own sovereign, and was always flustered when, on the extremely rare occasion that the Queen would visit the garden. Without meaning to, Beeatrix always looked at the lovely Gardenia with the saddest of eyes, as Gardenia was only a bulbie when she was friends with her elder sisters.
- Glifforia Goldenrod: The Elder of the Goldenrod Clan, Beeatrix is acquainted with her through Lady Sal and through her daughters, who had a sweet-tooth for Goldenrod nectar. Glyph, as she is known, is more of an intellectual and philosopher, and passed down her role as breeder to her younger sister Genocia.
- Tabitha Tulip: Not old enough to be considered an Elder, but is the lone-surviving member of her clan that is the oldest. As far as plant age goes, she is no older than Gardenia, but is already a grandmother via her daughter Trista taking up the mantle of breeder at teenhood. Beeatrix has always made it a point to assign goodwill counselors to Tabitha specifically as a way of giving back for all that her forebears did for the Bee kingdom.
- Viviana Violet: The second out of two active breeders for the Violet Clan, due to the demand for their abilities with medicinal needs when they are adopted by their combinoft couple as Magtis housewarming flower children. More outgoing that her introverted big sister, Viviana is well-versed in herbal remedies and has offered consultation for every last one of the citizens of her kingdom.
- Roezalie Rose: Was targeted by the Wasp Empire as an enemy of the state for some unknown reason, Beeatrix was made aware of this through daughter Berna’s resources, and personally intervened on her behalf, with the help of her little sister, Countess Belinda Bee. Under Beeatrix’s advice, Winona brought up the idea of members of the Rose clan to take part in ToxAnon as a way to cope with their thorns being looked upon as threats by outsiders.
- Fyrefox: One of the few flowers that had the ability to travel anywhere, Fyrefox was an invaluable ally and friend to Beeatrix and the Bee Kingdom at large. A very learned being, Fyrefox was a mentor figure to a great many of her kingdom’s children, especially Berna and Bailey. When Petalia was discovered by Berna and Bailey 4 Nevercycles prior to the present, the Queen had nearly mistaken Petalia for Fyrefox. While she had immeasurable admiration for her mother, Petalia had earned the respect of the Bee Queen on her own merits.
Friendship with Petalia and the DeScorch-Hopper Clan
As previously stated, Beeatrix saw the shadow of her dearly departed friend in Petalia’s face, and it was a struggle to separate her perceptions of her from Fyrefox. This friendship blossomed during a time when there was a grim nectar shortage throughout Neverland, and the fallout from it would have been unprecedented, but it became so in a positive direction when, unknowingly taking after her mother, Petalia stepped up and did everything she could to provide her nectar to the bees, but it took some doing. Even before learning of how much of an overabundance of honey from her nectar would result in, Beeatrix felt a great nobility in this shy flower; and it would be reaffirmed, time and time again, by Petalia’s actions: forming ToxAnon and being there for every single session; giving her time and energy to every last TA member and creatures who needed it: and inspiring great works of art from many, including two skilled artisans who knew her best: Stratocaster and Celia.
In the four Nevercycles that she has known Petalia, Queen Beeatrix grew more and more amazed with her, every day. Very few flowers on the island ever grew attached to the Neverscapian animals, but Petalia’s bonds were unequaled by any other, and it all started with Cello Hopper-DeScorch and her Combinoft Laddiebug DeScorch. While she never vocalized it, the Queen always had a fancy for Cello’s melodious musical talents, and had gotten to know her in the years to come as Beeatrix’s attendance to her symphonies in the Neverwoods became more noticeable. Cello was a shy artist both on and off the stage, and she was every bit as flustered by the Bee monarch’s presence as Gardenia was. The way they broke the ice was when the subject of Cello’s mentor Fyrefox came up when Beeatrix was invited to Hopper Hills for high tea. Once Beeatrix met Petalia, she realized that the latter was Cello’s muse; which elevated her admiration for Petalia, all the more.
Recently, Queen Beeatrix traveled to the Petraverse Neverzone, with the express purpose of bestowing upon Petalia and her adoptive Gladdie sister Gloria, the honor of Bee Knighthood. Her deliberation towards this action was long in the making: Petalia’s deeds in life had formed so many bonds and positive changes throughout their Neverzone; everything from ToxAnon, to the extremes she went through so that Celia Spider would be healed. Gloria’s Damehood was a result of the selfless act of defying the Nevertribe’s magic, pulling herself out of the ground, and risking her very life against an unstable foe in order to reach Petalia on the hill, in the hopes that it would reach the attention of Princess Mina Elechad.
Other relationships
Wasp Empire: Tensions have always been high between the civilized and proper Bee Kingdom, and the warmongering Wasps. Ruled by a tyrannical empress, the Wasps are always considered to be a constant threat, now more than ever with Winona’s defection to the Bees. This bitter divide is all the more personal for Beeatrix, considering that four of her sister’s children are stuck within the confines of the hive; those that want anything to do with her, at any rate.
Celia the Spider: The Queen is a great admirer of Celia’s textile work, and has often provided anonymous investments for the display of her works in the Nevertribe’s Great Hall. She has also been an secret buyer of her works that have been at auction. To this day, however, Celia has never been told by anyone that the Bee Queen, one of the highest echelon Neverbeings in this Neverzone, was tied to any of it. She has, however, had tea with Celia quite a few times, and has dropped subtle hints as to her fanship of Celia’s craft.
Stratocaster Hopper and Tetrazin Sol-Hopper: Ordinarily, someone of Strat’s stature would have little way to make a name for himself in Bee circles, but his being Celia’s cousin, and being the combinoft of the daughter of Lady Sal, it was only a matter of time before Strat would be noticed by the Queen. His extensive collection of homemade enamel pins were of the highest quality she had ever seen, and has commissioned his skills for special royal projects, one of which pertains to Knight- and Damehood rituals. Tetra, being the slvskorte of Lady Sal, has always had a friendship with the Bee Kingdom, and with Beeatrix and her three daughters. Beeatrix also has a weakness for the natural charms of little baby Zimri, Strat’s infant sister.
Lady Sal Sol and Galatea Sol: Every animal tribe in the Petaliaverse answers to the Nevertribe, directly, and Beeatrix’s kingdom is one of the most important castes because of how many other factions rely on them for their honey. Lady Sal and her combinoft are also recipients of the title of Bee Kingdom Dames; which is considered a high honor to the human couple. Part of Lady Sal’s duty as Nevertribe gardener is keeping open communication with the pollination teams and nector collectors. Their most-trusted lieutenant for this is Laddiebug DeScorch, the foreman of the entire operation. Lady Sal was the one that Beeatrix trusted the most to find an advocate for her niece Winona after the hardships she had to endure in recent Nevercycles.
Bramber the Behemoth: A once-feared monster of thorns that the Queen, herself, had ordered her troops to steer clear of. His former gang, the Tuff’n Rumbles, had stirred trouble for the Bee kingdom, in the past; which would explain why it took over a Neverdecade to scrutinize his hill. After Petalia and Gloria were brought to Petra’s Neverzone to live with the Elechads, Lady Sal had confided in Beeatrix that his psychosis and split personality were set off by a duty he felt was more important than anything, but had no memories of it. The hill where he stood watch hid a sacred burial ground: the resting place of the departed Fyrefox, and Gladiola twins Gibby and Garnish. The seedlings that Bramber has become the guardian/father of, have been molded with a strong sense of honor and duty, always giving what they can for the creation of the Bee Kingdom’s honey, something which has cast a brand new light on Beeatrix’s perceptions of the misunderstood giant.
Queen Auroralania Faye-Sol: Despite all evidence to the contrary, anthropomorphic Neverbeings outside of the Zetascape and Neverscape are relatively uncommon, and this is what brought Beeatrix to Aurora’s attention. Aurora does not minimize Beeatrix’s soveriegnty as a kingdom within a kingdom; and sees the benevolent bee as an equal. in every sense. Beeatrix is very fond of the Neverlords, and holds a special tenderness for Princess Maddie, Aurora’s half-human daughter, whose hair is actually botanical growth. While Beeatrix’s sovereignty entails only her own kingdom, she is a special advisor on a council of worlds that keeps the Brotherhood of Pan and the Sorority of Bells in check. It was their combined decision to grant Gloria and Petalia, the plant-elemental daughter of Solin Fyre, Damehood in the kingdom of the bees which would carry official Neverscape status in every world.
