Divergence in timeline:
In 1981 (revised from 1977), Angelica Jones and her then-boyfriend Alfred Brau Jr., had kidnapped and were about to shove Dick Tracy into the same underwater structure of the Santa Maria ship replica that her father Flattop had drowned in. Time stopped and time-travelers Nicole and Kiki saw what Angeltop was about to do. Because of the predestination paradox that was at stake if they did not act, Nicole used her Pan Powers to exorcise the evil essence that Flattop’s legacy had imbued his daughter with, with a spell known as the Malice Expulsion Wave. Along with softening Angelica’s and Rick’s appearences, their hatred of Tracy was gone in a flash. Time resumed as Nicole and Kiki returned to the present day. Realizing what they had done, Angelica and Brow Jr., both untied Tracy and turned themselves in to the raiding party of Tracy’s squad on the ship.
After a couple of years in St. Vincent’s Sanitarium in central Missouri, a now married, reformed Angelica had reunited with family she never knew of; her cousins via Sharptop and Maddie. This compelled Angelica to search for the child she had before meeting Brow Jr., a half-black little boy named Harold who was now approximately 3 or 4 years old. Harold, who had been in the care of his late-father’s sister Michelle in Chicago, had begun to receive letters from Angeltop, telling him that she loved him and wanted to have a second chance with him. Thanks to one of Robert’s connections, Noelle Fontaine, Michelle was convinced to give Angelica custody on a trial basis. Once Harold saw his mother for the first time, he ran straight into her arms and hugged her, tight. It was in that moment that Michelle asked Ms. Fontaine to rescind the trial condition; her nephew was in the right hands. Angelica, in return, asked Rob to take photos of the three of them with a disposable camera, giving the film to Michelle, promising that she was welcome to visit Harold anytime.
New Family
The night that Angelica reunited with Hi-Top (the nickname he was given), Angelica introduced her son to Rick (Brau Jr’s new name) in the hopes that they would hit it off. Rick welcomed the kid with open arms, and there was zero hesitance with Hi-Top accepting his new father. The stage was now set for them to reveal that Angelica was pregnant, and that Hi-Top was going to be a big brother. The news hit Hi-Top slowly, as he was unsure of what being a brother would mean. Angelica and Susan went to Texas for a few days to see an old acquaintance of the family, and Harold spent some time with Randy and his family, making fast friends with his cousin Spencer and their mutual cousin Ariella (each was the same age as Harold). Both of their families were also expecting, as well; AJ and Spencer were ecstatic to be big siblings and to be introduced to their unique cousin Harold. AJ was clearly a tomboy and had no problems fitting in; oftentimes playing even rougher than Harold and Spencer.
In the months that went by, Harold began to shift in his views of being a big brother. He was always playing with AJ and Spencer in and out of pre-school, and was doted upon by Bella and her best friend Sophie. These connections gave Hi-Top unparalleled strength on the day that baby Magda was born. Out of the three baby girls that were due, Magda was the one born first. Hi-Top was smitten with his new half-sister. What fascinated him was, understandably so, that she was the same Caucasian shade as their mother, while he was a lot darker. He had seen similarities between siblings that were on TV and in their community, but this was the first time it felt real to him. Three months later, baby Nicole and baby Serena were born. AJ, Spencer, and Harold were each lovestruck by these three infants, and forged a bond as new members of the Jones Big Sibling Club that Bella started.
Elementary and Junior High Education
In 2nd grade, the three cousins were still inseparable, but now a few new friends were added to their roster: Mindy Leona Heyward (from the 3rd grade class), Nate Parkfield, and Spencer’s friend from 1st grade, Jesse Schucart (Sophie’s brother). In addition to being lunch buddies, the group went to movies together, weekend playdates, and other activities; but AJ and Jesse were far too close to the other due to an awakening of sorts. Their attraction to the other began to grow stornger and stronger, until they eventually were little more than glued at the hip; their eyes and focus blotted out everything around them when they were together. Spencer and Harold were sacred that something was wrong ,and asked their kindergarten teacher (now the speech-teacher) Connie Mayhall for help. The result was not what they hoped it would be; higher powers recommended that AJ and Jesse had to be separated through homeschooling
