Leah Morgenstern, the previous incarnation of Sophie Schucart was nearly identical of soul as she is today. That being said, Leah was a strong-willed and able quiet woman who put the needs of others ahead of her own. When their parents died when Giles was only 7, Leah had to grow up rather quickly, and took in her little brother like he was her own son. It was this love for one another that allowed Giles to flourish and become a kind and gentle man, setting the stage for their roles in their future lives as Schucarts. Leah eventually married and had two children, Rivka Saphersieder and Boris Saphersieder, but became a widow when her husband was struck with a fatal heart malady. Giles devoted his life to helping Leah raise the kids and keep house.
For most of her life, Leah was not only able to see communing spirits, but could speak with them, among those predominantly was Leah’s giggle child, Gingersnap (known back then as Veyahafta) and her two best friends Nufashatel and Cassia; Gingersnap’s cousling and cousling v’combin. They came by, in secret, to stave off Veya’s curiosity at first, but when they learned that Leah could not only see them, but that her faith strengthened them, they became a part of the Morgenstern’s family proper. While Jesse and Boris could not see them, the girls of the house could: Leah, little Rivka, and stray adoptive cat Sukker (Danish for sugar) each could see the slvs as clear as day. Most slvskorte fae were unable to live on earth for an extended period of time without returning to the Neverscape, but Leah’s adamantine, galvanized faith was more than enough to protect the three slvs.
Tragedy of the Morgensterns
On September 19th, 1837, marauders from beyond this world came and invaded Denmark, specifically for the purposes of finding men of true faith. They were looking for Giles, and they used Leah and the kids as bait, keeping them captive in the attic level of the family’s synagogue near the sea. Giles was in hiding in the underground when the warnings came to Leah’s attention. The levels of Neskomf evil had blanketed the city, and Leah had no way of contacting Veya and the others. They were, however able to speak through the family’s cat, Sukker, telling Giles to stay hidden; anticipating Leah’s will. Giles was not able to comply with this. He raced out of the Cisterns in Søndermarken Park with Sukker in his arms, only to be caught in a gauntlet of the marauders across the city. That’s when he approached Giles, posing as another with a fake hand.
Using a dark magic spell of translation, Giles was now able to speak fluent English, and he was taken prisoner by the man. As his henchmen were about to capture him, Sukker pounced on the foot soldiers, clawing them and slitting their throats. Speaking in Danish, Giles screamed for Sukker to find Leah and the children. The leader wasn’t angry at the loss of his men, but was annoyed that his time was being wasted, so he knocked Giles out just long enough to take him to the cove. When Giles woke up, he was in a holding cell with a port hole facing the synagogue. Leah was held outside with the children, who were only there to give Giles their last goodbyes. Giles screamed for them to let her go; he would do whatever the pirates asked, but only if they let her go. The pirate’s leader simply snapped his fingers, and the three Sapherseiders disappeared, and a foreboding flame engulfed the building. His sister, niece, and nephew were never outside; it was just an illusion; they had never left the attic where they were chained up.

The ship became airborne as a portal opened to the Great Myriad; the flames reaching the top level. There was no way that they could have gotten out. Leah died in the fire, but she suffered no pain; as a manifestation of Giles’s greatest wish, the spirits of Veya, Fasha, and Cassia were able to Fayport the children to safety, wiping out their memories of what happened, with only enough power left over to extract Leah’s mind and soul from her body, absorbed into the stars of the night sky, inadvertently taking Sukker’s soul along with her. Leah was at peace, the children were in the safety of a new foster family, with false memories implanted in the parents of promising to care for Rivka and Boris. Giles, while this never occurred to him, was the last remaining victim of the marauders. He blamed himself for what happened, so his heart became broken, and his soul temperature fell drastically.
Rebirth
In the 20th Century, in Remington Springs, Missouri, Sophie Schucart was born to Robert and Sharon Schucart in 1982 (25 years prior to present day in sliding timeline). The intriguing part of this child’s birth was that her first laugh did not yield a slvskorte; but this was undetectable by the Neverscape Lords; not until 4 years later, when Jesse was born. When his first laugh happened, he did not give rise to a slvskorte, either. Jesse’s birth was a source of controversy for little Sophie, having been lied to about the burdens and suffering that having a little sibling would bring. The minute that Sophie realized that Sandy had lied to him about this, he apologized and convinced her to come back home and meet their brother. Back at the house, Sophie looked the infant over, and she was amazed; he was a charmer and adorable. Jesse had noticed that there was someone missing the entire week, and was thrilled when Sophie finally appeared, so much so that he cooed. Their bond was strong from the start, right from where Giles and Leah left off.
21 years later, in the present day, Sophie and Jesse finally learned why they were born without slvskorte children; because the slvs that were connected to their souls were still alive, their soul genes matching them as closely as DNA would. On a secret mission with Team Panfan, the Elechads, and the Trinity, their slvskorte daughters were found in the Betaverse Neverzone and were freed from Huek’s curse. Nufashatel and Veya recognized their parents right away, and both sides were love struck. Giles’s slv, Fasha changed her name to Natasha Jonescart, in honor of her father’s new life; Veya changed her name to Gingersnap, and both of them were welcomed by their new slv sisters Nillavan and Misty and their human siblings Lexi, Bree, and Declan.

Gingersnap would find herself being pursued by a secret admirer, one who was not that far away. The slvskorte daughter of Nicole Jones’s girlfriend Twi, a feline-fae hybrid who was madly in love with the canine Gingersnap. Kitsune was too shy and ashamed to face Gingersnap, considering that there was a chance that it could backfire. Gingersnap, however, was very flattered and found Kitty to be very adorable and beautiful; recounting the story of family friend Sukker from their time in Copenhagen, it helped Kitty to come out of her shell. Gingersnap was not ready for a romantic relationship with any fae just yet, but did not close off the possibility. What none of them realized, was that Kitty was Sukker, reincarnated, brought together again with the Morgensterns by a twist of fate.
