Providing that everything before the time Nicole Jones and Kiki set the two would-be-killers on the right path is canon, Rick was born the son of an axis spy in WWII, code-named the Brow. Orphaned by the capture and death of same, the quiet and troubled son of this criminal was a small-time hood who fell in love with the daughter of another criminal who was killed by the same detective. Unlike Angeltop, the man who would come to be known as Rick, had no love or thirst for vengeance for the monster that sired him; so everything he did was out of love for Angeltop, even kidnapping of the man who was responsible for both men’s deaths. The moment that everything changed was when Angelica was about to toss Tracy into the same pilings where Flattop Sr died.

NOTE: Nicole Jones, who was not even born yet at this point in time, and her slvskorte Kiki, felt a psiconic tug from the future, to this point in time. With time frozen, Nicole used a Master-level spell called the Malice Expulsion Wave, which is only effective if the user and the one affected are close of bond. In this case, Angelica and Rick were her cousins and godparents. This meant the ship did not catch fire, Angelica was not presumed dead and driven further insane; and more importantly, Magda was given life. For the two of them, it was an instantaneous change. Angelica realized what she was about to do, and immediately untied Tracy. It was then that Brow Junior realized that his bullet wound was healed, and both his and Angelica’s faces were changed; even her eye color went, impossibly, from brown to deep blue. Knowing full well what releasing the detective meant, they began to warm him back up while trying to make sense of what happened; what made them even want to kill him for. Lizz Worthington, the woman who killed Angelica’s brother, in self-defense all those years ago, and Sam Catchem, rescued Tracy and arrested the two suspects; although they were not even sure if they were even the same people.

Plea deal and Reformation
Detectives Worthington and Catchem were ready to make D.A. Sharpe push for full trial and convictions when they went onto the ship; but the orbiting thought in their minds— and Tracy’s — was that reasonable doubt was impossible to look past, as nothing about the culprits was the same, apart from their voices, height, and fingerprints. Tracy, himself, knew that a conviction was all but impossible, prompting a long talk with Brow Junior’s other victim, Vitamin Flintheart. D.A. Sharpe confirmed their suspicions about not wanting to press full charges, especially after Sir Flintheart, recanted his statement. In order for justice to be served, a consensus was reached that both defendants take a plea afreemen’s: full allocution in open court, in exchange for a minimum mandate of two years of psychological treatment at St. Vincent’s Mental Hospital in central Missouri.
Right before their incarceration and therapy, Young Brow had requested to change his name to Richard DuBrau, the middle name Fletcher being a mentor that he had in high school who was drafted into the army and killed overseas. It was the teachings of his mentor of civic duty and justice that made Rick want to pursue a career in law enforcement, which he spent the entire two years studying and preparing for. Sharpe had no problem with granting his request. Rick’s therapy centered around the anger and rage that he felt towards himself, stemming from the deep shame and hatred of everything his father stood for. Growing up in his shadow, never mind looking exactly like him, was a horrible childhood to have, which caused him to lash out. Rick’s psychiatrist and therapist each pushed Rick to work past the guilt and the shame that he felt by doing positive and constructive things to make his life worth living. They asked him, midway, what made him happiest in the world, and his answer was “Angeltop.” Since Angelica’s feelings for him were just as strong, their therapists each believed that their union would be a gigantic step in the right direction, both he and Angelica were allowed to be married, but were not allowed to stay in the same hospital room until their sentences were complete.
Police Academy and New Friends
Having passed the criteria of his sentence, and shown to be a completely different person, Rick was allowed to attend the Police academy, under the condition of mandatory probation. In happenstance, one of the officers he met on his first day was the husband of one of Angelica’s cousins, Robert Jones. Jones was initially suspicous, having kept his eyes on the news in the past four years, and of Rebecca’s father blacklisting Angelica because of her libelous book “Sins of the Father: My Life as Flattop’s Daughter”. Rick had to work extra hard and extra long to earn trust and kudos with the no-nonsense sergeant. Seeing, however, that Rick had the potential and the desire to complete the program, Robert asked his former partner Dennis Briscoe to mentor DuBrau.
At that time, Angelica was also trying to extend an olive branch to Rebecca’s side of the Jones family, starting with meeting her uncle Sharptop, in person. Just as she had feared, Samuel wanted nothing to do with her, but Maddie, his wife, could sense her true intentions, and invited her in. One by one, Angelica met and befriended her cousins and their kids, having been accepted almost immediately, especially by temporary roommate, cousin Esther (age 16). The interactions that Angelica had with Rebecca’s and Randy’s children made her think of the son she had, just prior to her breakdown.
New Family and New Tragedies

After Rick graduated from the Academy, Angelica shared two bits of good news with him; she was pregnant, and that she was going to find her son. A few months after this, a deal was arranged with Remington Social and Family Services to reach out to Harold’s foster mother, in an attempt to reunite mother and child. Her wishes were granted when Michelle, the sister of Harold’s biological father, conceded. Later that night, Harold, age 4, met his mother for the first time since he was born, and his new daddy, Rick. After spending their first night as a family by going to bookstores, the mall, and Harold’s favorite fast food place, the best gift was saved for last, that he was going to be a big brother. Six months later, little Magda came into the world, and he had another trait in common with his two cousins Ariella and Spencer: he was now a big sibling to a baby girl.
Nearly decade had passed, and Rick had rose through the ranks as a beat cop and rookie, to become part of both Robert’s squad and as an Anti-Terrorism Task Force trooper. His biggest case was the worst he had ever seen: a maniac had armored up and attacked RHS, killing the student who helped evacuate the other students by holding the gunman at bay: Derrick Green, Bella’s boyfriend and father of her child. Not having the stomach to take part in the ATTF’s cases in the field, he transferred back to Robert’s precinct, full time. A few months after this transfer, Rebecca and Bella were in a car explosion, claiming Becca’s life and putting Bella into a burn-induced coma. That same week, Ariella, Rebecca’s second daughter, went comatose from grief, also having to be admitted to Abrams General Hospital.
Rick and Angelica volunteered in conjunction with Randy Jones (Rebecca’s brother) to foster Nicole on alternating weeks to give her a sense of stability. A few months into the arrangement, Harold’s friends, the Schucarts, reunited with Nicole and the kids, the latter wanting to have a slumber party to cheer Nicole up. Jesse, who had been pulled out of public school for homeschooling, had brought a book with him — one that terrified Rick and Angelica: Dick Tracy — America’s Greatest Detective; in which Jesse made the connection that Harold’s parents were the duo Angeltop and the Brow’s Son, but each dismissed it as a coincidence. When Nicole was about to turn nine, Ariella and Bella woke up from their comas simultaneously, and the family was reunited.
Trying Times and Dangerous Worlds
Three years prior to the present day, the friendship between Robert and Rick nearly went sour due to Harold’s false arrest and unlawful assault while in custody. While Robert did not have anything to do with either event, it was his squad that caught the case. Robert had sworn that nothing would happen to Harold, and he personally saw to it by not leaving Harold’s side. The one minute that Robert left the interrogation room, Harold had been found beaten in his handcuffs. Robert swore he would tear the precinct apart to find out who did this, but as far as Rick was concerned, their brotherhood was broken. The trail took both detectives to a bigoted, dirty cop in their precinct as the one who harmed Harold. After Harold and Magda gave a presentation for Black History Month at her school, their cooperation and concord allowed Rick to swallow his pride and not only forgive Robert, but to ask for his own forgiveness. It was, of course, granted, and Harold began his Police Academy classes.
Flash forward to the year 20XX, a now-16 year-old Nicole was attacked and left for dead in Downtown Remington, putting Rick, Briscoe, and Jackson on the scene with CSI. Rick and Briscoe discovered the bludgeon weapon and a minister’s collar with a blonde hair. In order to flush out the assailant, Nicole’s death was released through the media, and Ariella and Team Panfan used their magics to backtrack the killers to their bosses. College students Tobias Yale and Arnold Needleman were arrested at the LorLest hotel along with their handler, a man named Iggy Starkey. Starkey was the go-between from the big boss to the assassin; whom all three suspects were terrified of. Ariella’s interrogation of Starkey and Briscoe and Robert’s interrogation of the college students revealed the name of the assassin: Siobhan Elechad, the long-lost elder sister of Spencer Jones’s wife, Mina.
