The firstborn child of Floyd and Stiletta Jones, a teenage, biracial couple from Cookson Hills, OK, who would later welcome Floyd Jr. as her little brother. By the time she was 10, her parents had separated, and her father would later die after accepting a contract to kill a cop who posed a threat to black market gangsters. With nowhere else to go, the state put Angelica and little Floyd in the care of their aunt Anita. Tragically, Angelica did not feel safe in that house after she had been molested by Anita’s husband; so she ran away and ended up in foster care. She would later major in cosmetology and beautician arts, making a name for herself with a chain of beauty salons and a line of wigs.
Ever loyal to her father’s memory, Angelica wrote a libelous book about her father and their family, “My Life as Flattop’s Daughter”. She had a failed string of relationships, one of them impregnating her with a biracial son, Harold; who would be put up for adoption to his aunt Michelle. By the time she came to Chicago to go on television to talk about her book, she had met and fallen in love with a man whose father was also dead because of the same detective, but was not loyal to his memory. While she appeared on screen to talk about her book, her boyfriend attempted to kill a man who knew both of their fathers, an actor named Flintheart. It was right after the same female cop who killed Floyd Jr, came to question Angeltop, she and Al got the drop on her and kidnapped her primary target, taking him to the Santa Maria replica in the lagoon.
NOTE: Prior to 1981, Angelica’s history was the same as it was in the previous timeline, but thanks to the intervention of a couple of time travelers from the future, Nicole and Kiki, the evil essence that contaminated Angelica’s soul was exorcised and destroyed. This occurred at the moment where Angelica and her boyfriend, kidnapped and tried to kill the man who was responsible for their fathers’ deaths, a certain police detective. The minute that Nicole sucked out Angelica’s dark side, her facial features softened, her eyes turned blue, and Rick’s face turned less grotesque (See pictures below; left panel source: Dick Tracy Meets Angeltop)
Before Angeltop could toss Tracy into the icy water, she instantly became terrified of what she was about to do, not wanting to take anyone’s life. At first, the detective thought that the two criminals were trying to feign insanity to avoid prosecution when they realized they wouldn’t get away with killing him; but he began to wonder the second he saw the look in Angeltop’s eyes.

The twosome untied the detective and tried to warm him back up, knowing that his allies would be at the ship replica where they were hiding out. When the other detectives came, Angelica and Al both surrendered. Rightfully so, the detective’s comrades thought that they were pulling some kind of con, but both of them willingly allowed themselves to be taken in.

Starting with a clean slate…
While no prison time was given for their attempted crimes, D.A. Sharpe gave them a plea deal which required Angelica and Rick to serve two years in a mental hospital in Missouri, St. Vincent’s. During that time, Angelica thought of only three things: her fiancé, her mother, and her son. It wasn’t until a one-armed nurse, named Susan O’Copper, called upon Angelica in her hospital room, revealing that they were cousins, that Angelica wanted to know the family that she never knew. After the two years were up, Angelica had already gotten married to Rick, and planned out steps in reaching her familial goals, which Susan (AKA Frizzletop), agreed to assist her with. After a rocky start with their Uncle Samuel, his wife Maddie changed his mind, and Angelica was given a chance with their children: Rebecca, Randy, and teenager Esther. While bonding with Randy’s and Rebecca’s children, Angelica’s longing for her son Harold only intensified, which was predicated on finding and reconciling with her mother, Stiletta, who was touring with the circus in Europe, with the next stop being Copenhagen, Denmark.
With Susan’s help, they reached out to a figure from Angelica’s past, their aunt Anita, who was Flattop’s twin sister. Wanting to help set things right with Angelica, she gladly accompanied the girls on the trip to Copenhagen so that Angelica could find her mother. Like with Angelica, Anita feared reprisal and anger from her ex-sister-in-law for not being able to reign in Floyd Junior and keep him from going down the dark path he chose. Two nights after they made landfall in Denmark, Angelica attended the circus while Anita and Susan toured the city. Angelica missed the knife act, but was sure that Stiletta was there. When the circus closed for the night, Angelica snuck behind the ropes and searched for the woman she saw on the posters — the woman who gave birth to her. By sheer chance, she happened upon the alley where a young black woman was lighting a cigarette. Angelica had found her mother; and it was apparently a mutual desire for her to be found, as the first thing Stiletta did was hug her grownup daughter, in tears.

Road to Hi-Top
With the help of her cousin-in-law, Robert, Angelica was able to track down her son’s Aunt Michelle in Illinois via a friend of Robert’s, Noelle Fontaine; a social worker. In the months that the investigation into Angelica’s records and psych evaluations that the law required, Angelica started writing letters to her son, addressing him as her little Herschel bar (The Yiddish equivalent of “Harold”). Eventually, after three months, Angelica was finally able to bring Hi-Top back to Remington Springs. In gratitude, Angelica promised she could see and call Harold as often as she wanted, and even brought a disposable camera with her when she came to pick Harold up from the train station so that she could have something strong to remember Harold by. Harold, who was now 4 years old, was confused at the visage of the woman whom he was introduced to. He knew her voice, but her face did not match the photos Michelle had of her. When Angelica begged her little “Herschel Bar” for a hug, he immediately raced to her. Later that night, Rick met his new son, and took an immediate shine to him; both of them did. Angelica also gave Hi-Top some extra special good news: he was going to be a big brother; she was expecting a little girl. Harold was revved up by this, in the best kind of way.
