Checkered Birth
Nearly 30 years prior to the present time, high-school-age lovers Blake Masterson and Olivia Schucart had given birth to twin sons, Michael and Cameron out of wedlock. Not willing to put up with the demands of their parents, Blake and Olivia struck out on their own and tried to make a life together; at least, that was the plan. When one of the twin boys, Cameron, was learned to have been stillborn, the couple was in mourning, and would later lose their Michael to kidnappers. But Cameron was not dead. He and his brother were both in the crosshairs of a black-market baby operation, and their losses were staged by the racketeers just to add insult to tragedy.
Adoption and Service
It is not known how the child passed through the rogue agency, but he was eventually given to a loving couple in Maryland, the Spinners. Naming the child Tobias, the couple raised him in a loving and supportive home. Earl, the father, was a Korean War Vet, and taught Tobias, from and early age, to fight for what is right, and to serve one’s country dutifully. After his parents passed away, Tobias rode his scholarship to the State University as long as it would allow (2 years); but it would prove utterly fruitless, until Tobias enlisted in the US Navy. During Basic Training, Tobias met a girl who was working as a barrista in the coffee shop he frequented; her name was Laura Simington. They had a whirlwind romantic courtship, and then eloped after pooling their resources for a cabin in the mountains. At this point, Tobias was called to duty by the Navy, not knowing that Laura was pregnant with their first child.
The Truth: Gwendy’s Quest
After the formation of the Trinity of Pan, Gwendy Schucart (the secret crush of Nicole Jones) and her mother were terrorized by Olivia’s stepson, also named Michael, who was a low-rank enforcer for the local mobs. Olivia was under the gun to repay a loan she took out while she looked for employment in the private sector. Michael was a thug with a terrible temper, but Gwendy wanted to have the brother she used to have back, which allowed Nicole to tap into a rare spell known as the Malice Expulsion Wave, which drained away his hatred of his stepmother and half-sister (further contributed to with amnesia dust, so as to wipe away his memories of holding his family at gunpoint.
