Personality Traits
Thought to have been abandoned by her flock, baby Magnolia (name given to her by adoptive mothers Snow Tiger and Fyrefox) was plagued by an abandonment complex, which was further strained by her adoptive mothers’ deaths not long after Petalia’s seed was generated. Like Petalia and Celia, Magnolia is extremely shy and softspoken, and does no harm to any creature, although the obnoxiousness of Petalia’s hillmate Bramber and his gang have made her closer than ever to unsheathing her talons. Like her friends, Magnolia forges bonds of love with those across the foodchain boundary; which made her adopt the same vegan lifestyle as her dear friends Celia and Ross. M.O.G is very spiritual and in tune with nature. Her curiosity of other worlds comes from her endless nights of following the stars.
While she denies herself her baser instincts, she taps into it when she becomes fraternally protective of her loved ones. Magnolia is very well-read and learned, her various perches in Neverland are littered with shelves of human books and novels, and has an endless thirst for knowledge and wisdom. Another trait she shares with her friends is that she is very altruistic, caring very little about herself apart from her desire to keep alive her relationships, due to her fears of abandonment.

Magnolia’s role in the Combination Neverzone was a plethora of different things, mostly as a protector for the sentient flowers and weaker Neverbeings on the island. While she did not report to any particular person or governing body on the island, she was very loyal and devoted to the Nevertribe, the Neverbee Kingdom, and the residents of Hopper Hills. Her first duty was always to maintain a watchful eye on the valley below, and was able to detect problems even when her attention was focused on other things, or other beings. Her close relationship with Petalia meant that when both had insomnia, they were each other’s right hand gal. There were times, however, when Magnolia was afraid to lay her burdens on others. The worst of this was just two weeks prior to Mina Elechad and Spencer Jones’s arrival in their Neverzone, when poor Magnolia contracted a case of avian flu. For a day or so, Magnolia kept herself indoors and tried to nurse herself, but her inactivity caught the attention of fellow aeronautic Nevergal, Juniper Squirrel-Caribou.
At first, Juniper thought that Magnolia was sleeping in, but when she could not even pick up a psicon frequency, telepathically, Juniper used her stealth to burrow into the tree’s roots, and climb up the secret entrance. Juniper’s fears were confirmed when she saw Magnolia passed out on the floor, running a dangerously high fever. Magnolia awoke to see that she was back in her bed, with an ice pack on her head, and a blanket wrapped around her. Juniper explained that Magnolia had been unconscious for at least the entire six hours she had been there, and begged for Magnolia to let her get help. Magnolia felt this was out of the question, and refused to budge. Rather than deplete Maggie’s energy by getting her stressed, Juniper stayed put and did everything she could think of to cater to Magnolia’s needs. The young owl was in constant pain, had chills, headaches, and felt like she could not keep her food down; this had been the first time since being a fledgling that she had been so ill. After two days of staying at her side, Juniper went out to hunt for supplies, and to tell Wil that she was safe and sound.

Wilscott went around the Neverwoods, warning all male friends of Magnolia’s to stay away, as the strain that she was ill from was determined to be worse for guys who caught it. The other part of his mission was to round up Magnolia’s friends and get them to help, all without tipping off Petalia and making her frantic. For the next week, Cello and Tetrazin kept Petalia occupied with little Zimri while Celia; Demuria, Dainty, and their stepmother, Gina Gerbil; went in, one at a time, up the tree and gave Magnolia the best of care that they could give. Magnolia was scared that Juniper and the others would be contaminated by her illness, but Juniper had the foresight to fly up to the Nevertribe’s village, where she was given a proxy potion for each of the girls — a special elixir that allowed for them to be immune to a specific illness or malady only once, then they could not be able to use the same potion for another three Nevercycles (years); in this case, Prince Silver Dart formulated it so that it would grant immunity to Avain flu.
Juniper had hoped that Cello, Zimri, Celia, and Churro would be able to keep Petalia busy and distracted, but they had reckoned without Petalia’s fierce loyalty to her favorite owl; and Demuria told Petalia the truth, after cracking under the steadfast and tearful stare from Petalia’s blue eyes. Petalia pleaded with Tetra and Cello to uproot her so that she could go up and help tend to Magnolia, but Churro put four of her eight feet down, declaring that Petalia could not take such a risk. Zimri, who clung to Petalia’s plumage, managed to accidentally pull out a loose petal, landing on the ground with it. Petalia then had a brainstorm: Cello could boil that petal and infuse it into Magnolia’s favorite tea, and she would be healed of her affliction, just like when Sylvia the Silkworm was sick in bed from using too much of her Blue Moon Silk.
That night, Juniper had called upon Demuria, Dainty, Gina, and Sally the Sloth came up to Magnolia’s treepartment to keep the poor owl company and in good spirits while Petalia’s petal was boiled by cousin-duo Cello and Celia. Celia then tried to waft some lavender blossoms as Cello brought the tea out on her back. Juniper took one last thermometer reading of Magnolia’s temp, and it confirmed what her paw to her forehead had told her, she was getting worse. Putting it all on the line, Juniper had Magnolia take a sip of Cello’s tea, and in an instant it had worked. Three sips into it, and Magnolia was completely cured. She turned to Juniper, tearfully, and thanked her. The sly squirrel gave a “you’re welcome” smile, and passed out, on her feet. Fearing the worst, Magnolia zipped out of the tree, much to the chagrin of the girls who were still worried about Magnolia’s condition being totally gone. Not three minutes later did Magnolia arrive with Wilscott galloping frenziedly behind. Petalia was terrified as she saw the look of dread in Magnolia’s eyes before she popped in and out of the tree, bringing Juniper down to Wil. Magnolia knew that it was just sheer exhaustion, but Juniper had worked herself to the core just to Florence Nightingale the sick snow owl. Wil gently caressed his combinoft’s tuft of red hair with pride, while the three of them softly wept; even the Hermit was not immune to this display of affection. Magnolia was grateful to Juniper, and the tears of love that flowed from her blue eyes illustrated that.

Relationships:
OVERVIEW: As a Neverbeing, Magnolia is gifted with extremely high intelligence, humanisitic perception and understanding, and extreme empathy. She does not have a way to physically show her emotions on her face, but her special Neverscapian powers allow her to create emojis when she wishes to make her true feelings known. Because of her own complexities, Magnolia is very, very careful about those she lets into her heart, and those she does are given the strongest levels of devotion and love from the endearing NeverOwl.
Petalia: Though she was only a tiny owlette when Petalia’s seed was created by Fyrefox, she was old enough to know that she was going to be a big sister, and she was excited about this. What no one else knows is that Magnolia is the reason that Petalia landed in Cello’s lap on that blizzarding night. She tried to carry Petalia from their shelter near the Neverbeach, up to the Nevertribe in the mountains. Ever since then, she remained a constant in Petalia’s life, blaming herself for the sad surroundings that her little sister grew up in. To her surprise, however, Petalia showed how much like their mother she was by her unwavering compassion and loyalty for those she cared for; which extended to almost all the animals of the inner-island region. While she never revealed to Petalia why she cared so much for her, Magnolia unwittingly showed how deep it went by all the nighttime talks and bonding that they did. Rather than feeling shattered by the revelation of their true relationship, Petalia was uplifted by this blessing that Magnolia had granted her and Gloria both.
Cello and Laddie: If this were Earth, there would never have been kinship between their equivelents, but such was hardly the case in Neverland. Magnolia absolutely adored Cello, ever since she was Fyrefox’s student; and it was an infatuation that never went unreturned. Magnolia loved Cello’s violin music (which was generated by her legs, BTW) and was entranced by her beautiful green and black eyes. Cello and Laddie were never afraid of her, or any bird of prey on the island, because of their empathy and evolved intellects. Cello knew how proud Fyrefox was of her bird daughter, that she was as beautiful as the flower she was named after. From the time of Fyrefox and Snow Tigers’ deaths, Cello took the reins whenever possible, never needing an excuse to be near her dear owl friend. In effect, Cello has always felt indebted to Magnolia in a sense because Cello’s motherhood to Petalia was accidental. During the final night of the Great Blizzard, Magnolia was carrying Petalia’s seed in her talons and flying up to the Nevertribe’s village to keep her safe with Viviana in Dajanoten’s garden; only to accidentally drop her when her feet spasmed, shattering her heart to pieces. Cello had heard from Juniper that Magnolia was severely distraught and devastated when she feared Petalia was gone, so it was another reason to keep Petalia safe, for Magnolia’s sake. A week after she was released from Lady Galatea’s care, Magnolia saw how committed Laddie and Cello were to her seedling sis, she never tried to take her away from them. They both looked to Magnolia as another child to love, and history has repeated itself in Petalia’s new home in the Petraverse. Whenever Cello needed to be at a gig on another part of the island, or had to be taken someplace when Laddie was unable to fly her, Magnolia was always eager to volunteer, and enjoyed carrying her cherished friends on her back.
Celia Spider: Again, the species gap between friends was devoutly defied, as Magnolia was as enamored by Celia as she was of Cello and Laddie. Celia knew what it felt like to come from a divided family, having lost her own mother and sisters; but their shared love of human culture, art, and fiction, and their love for Petalia made them kindred spirits. Celia at one point used to write poetry that was inspired by Magnolia’s majestic qualities, penned with feathers that Magnolia donated for use as quills by Celia’s inner circle of fellow artists. Celia always sensed a great sadness from Magnolia, long before she had the power to project emotional icons. Like with Cello, Strat, and Arthur, Magnolia was Celia’s mode of transport and traveling companion. It is no surprise that Celia carries such love for M.O.G. on all eight of her sleeves.
Arthur-Peggio and Tina: When he was a larvae, Arthur was terrified of Magnolia, until he saw her shed a tear when he was four. Cello and Strat implored their baby brother to give Magnolia a chance, and when he did, he fell in love, in a sense. Magnolia was never too busy to take the young hopper on a flight over the island, and she was the first to cheer for his falling for Tina the Tortoise. She was there to witness their many kind acts as members of ToxAnon, and was a mentor figure to them when they needed it. Tina’s bond with Magnolia stems from their mutual likes, and their similiar personality types.
Ross the Rattler: When her friend, Felidiae Falconne, first told her that she was in love with a rattlesnake, Magnolia thought that she was joking; but the revelation that there was a rattlesnake boyfriend unnerved Magnolia. She had a general mistrust of, and destain for snakes; and her fears were confirmed when Felidia nearly died of rattlesnake poison. When it was determined that Ross was the one who did it, Magnolia was barely able to stop herself from finding him and tearing him to shreds. Felidiae was devastated when Ross broke off their relationship; and it was this depth of feeling that made Magnolia change her tune about him, further cemented by the lengths he went to, in order to de-venomize himself after Felidiae was cured. Unknown to anyone else, Magnolia was in the sky overlooking the serpents’ valley home when Dainty the Mouse was chased by a clutch of them. Ross’s quick thinking saved Dainty’s life, and Magnolia was there to support him when Petalia encouraged him to reach out to others who shared his self-dysphoria.
Dainty the Mousette: To most birds, she was just an albino field mouse; but Dainty was an outgoing and charming specimen. She and her sister Demuria were friends of Cello and Laddie for years, so they were well acquainted with Magnolia and Petalia. In fact, Dainty, Juniper, and Cello were protégés of Snow Tiger and Fyrefox when Magnolia was still a chick, so it goes without saying that Magnolia absolutely adores them. Were it not for Ross’s deception against his fellow snakes that saved Dainty’s life, Magnolia was prepared to nosedive from on high and snatch her to safety. Dainty would later confide in her feathered friend that she was glad it worked out the way it did, because she was in love with Ross. This admission should have shocked Magnolia, but as someone who was friends with those who would be considered food by her Earth counterparts, Magnolia decided she was in no way able to judge. Magnolia watched their relationship blossom, and it, to this day, warms her heart. Dainty and her stepmother, Gina Gerbil, love to have game nights with Magnolia and Demuria, and even when she does not mean to, Magnolia’s emoji powers will sometimes shatter her poker face; which the three girls pretend not to notice, playing the games as they would have if they had not seen it. Magnolia is always aware of this after the fact, and takes such love from such a simple gesture.
Demuria the Mousette: The elder half-sister of Dainty, Demuria can more than hold her own in a battle against an enemy with wings. However, never did Demuria ever so much as lay a butterfly wink in fury against the meek and loving Magnolia. Apart from a mutual respect and sheer loyalty for one another, they both care deeply about Dainty and Ross and their friends. Magnolia was too young to remember this, but there were times, when she was still a little chick, that she would flock from her little perch on Fyrefox’s planting pot, and randomly hug-blitzed the alluring Demuria, same as she did with Juniper. Magnolia’s human mother, Snow Tiger, would have to pull her away with all of her strength, but she never chastised Maggie for this; rather, she felt it was a sign of a strong desire to protect those she {Magnolia} loved, which put both combinofts at ease about their avian daughter. Demuria has never forgotten those hugs, and sees a soul as pure as the white of her down when she looks at Magnolia. In the Neverdecade-and-a-half since her mothers’ deaths, the few marauders that tried to harm Magnolia were always routed by Demuria, putting her ZSF training to special use. During the final week of her Avian flu, Magnolia was kept company by Dainty, Demuria, their stepmother and her dear friend Sally, and Celia and Cello. Demuria’s presence was akin to a security blanket; even if there was nothing that Demuria could do to help her, she still made Magnolia feel happy.
Juniper Squirrel-Caribou: As a fellow classmate of both Cello and Dainty under Fyrefox and Snow Tiger, Juniper was able to bring out the same reaction in Magnolia that Dainty did. Why Cello was never hugged like that was never thought of by the latter, but Juniper believed that it was because Cello’s face was hard for an infant to read. The sassy squirrel gained a maternal side whenever she was around Magnolia and seed-Petalia; which gave way to instincts that would never go disappear. As a fellow flyer, Magnolia enjoys a good aerial jaunt with her aunt-figure, Juniper, who was something of a night-owl herself, at times. On nights when Magnolia was missing her two mothers, Juniper would snuggle up with the youngling, who was more than thrice her size, and read one of Magnolia’s books to her. While she does not have a desire yet to have children of her own, as she has her Magtis daughter, Viviana; Juniper believes that Magnolia, Petalia, and Tox Anon are as good as offspring to her as she could ever dream of. Even though Juniper has had to face feral owls from other dimensions, in her life, Juniper’s deep bond with Magnolia makes a differentiation that is larger than the Grand Canyon, in width.
Mina Elechad-Jones: Throughout her and Spencer’s week in the Petaliaverse Neverzone, Mina was always on the prowl for birds to watch, as her favorite animals were avian in species. The night that Petalia and Gloria were cultivated from the spot on the hill, Magnolia had been ready to pounce on the two robed humans, only for Lady Sal to give the safety phrase. The same tear that Mina had shed over the two floral sisters, also carried her awe at the majesty of the bright white striped snow owl who stood guard over Petalia. From that point on, Mina felt a closeness to Magnolia which allowed the latter to trust in Sonya Elechad, Mina’s youthful mother, in caring for Petalia and Gloria. The kinship that they truly share is just icing on the seed bell.
Jennifer “Jendaka” Jonescart: Learning that she had more adoptive family out in the Great Myriad and Earth, Magnolia was so excited by their coming to Petra’s Neverzone, that she had to burn off some of her energy by flying over the Elechad house, in circles. Jennifer hit it off, instantaneously, with her blood sister Celia, and was excited at meeting the others from the Combination Neverzone. Tragically, her one chance for a first impression with Magnolia was stymied by her fear of birds, which she immediately felt terrible about hurting Magnolia’s feelings from. Unwilling to cause her little sister anymore pain and conflict, Magnolia was content with staying up in her tree for the duration of the Joneses’ stay, but Jennifer and Celia were not having it. Jennifer climbed up the tree and offered her avian sister her heart and love, and put it to the test with a trust exercise. Both Jennifer and Magnolia became closer to each other because of it, and now each have another special reason to look up at the stars.
Lexi Jonescart: Another Jones sister, a human, the future-teen fell madly in love with Magnolia right from the start. After Jennifer faced her fears of having a “bird of prey” for a sister, Magnolia let down her shields and bonded with Lexi, who did not care that there was no blood-relation; she adored having a bird, a bunny, and a spider for sisters; and was not shy about sharing her interests and tastes with Magnolia (or Maggie II, as she referred to her, as a namesake to Cousin Magda Jones-DuBrau). Sharing with Magnolia the knowledge of their other sisters, Nillavan, Natasha, and Cinna; Magnolia noticed Lexi wolfing down a cereal that Spencer and Mina kept in Sonya and Oz’s house for her. This intrigued the winged Jones owl, who was given a taste right from Lexi’s spoon. Sensing that Magnolia would not be able to stop after a single bite, big-little-sister Lexi poured a bowl for Magnolia, and along with the sweet taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, they both felt a stronger bond of unity, holding hand in wing as they began their first sisterly tradition.

Ariella and Solin: Following the events of Sonata Belle’s abduction, Ariella finally met her dimensional daughters, Magnolia and Petalia. Upon learning that she was a mother to both of these Neverbeings, Solin glowed in a blue flame of love, and Ariella was taken aback, like she had her secret wish come true — that Nicole became a baby again — fawning and swooning at her avian child and plantamental daughter. The look on Ariella’s face; the feel of her soulprint; the maternal energy that seeps out of every pore of her body, Magnolia has the most difficult time trying to discern the human and pixian counterparts of Fyrefox from the latter, because it is impossible; Ariella and Solin had their memories of their time as Fyrefox reactivated, and Ariella madly loves her newest daughters (technically their oldest daughters, factoring in Neveryears) Magnolia had not known she was adopted when she was a tiny chick, but her reunion with that same mother had a kernel of fear that not being a biological daughter like Petalia was (in effect) would chip away at how Ariella saw her, but to Ariella, a daughter is a daughter, and her reunion with Maggie was the happiest she had ever been (with each daughter and son, her heart figuratively grows).
Nillavan: As the one who introduced Magnolia and Petalia to Ariella, Nillavan holds a deep admiration for her feathered soul-sister and Petalia. Like Maggie, Nillavan is a protector at heart, and it is Magnolia’s undying loyalty and affection towards Petalia that makes Nillavan love and respect her for all the more. Magnolia is especially shy around Nillavan, but thankfully her fae sis has a cheat sheet in the form of Magnolia’s involuntary emojis.
Conroy the Vampire Bat: One of the earlier members to ToxAnon’s charter, Conroy viewed himself as a lone wolf, not believing that he would ever branch out and make friends. Magnolia and Cello have taken a special interest in getting him to open up to the group. His nightmares from childhood were what brought him to ToxAnon, but a deep part of him believes that his toxins could be beneficial to Lady Galatea’s medicine practices. Pride and denial are two of the barriers that keep him from trusting in anyone but the two girls to the small degree that he does.
